What is EMMETT Technique?
Emmett Technique was created by Ross Emmett who worked as a remedial massage therapist and Bowen Practitioner since 1980. He has many qualifications and skills and has worked with humans, dogs and horses.
The technique involves light pressure on specific points often in sequences for specific areas and the effect is often instant. It is so gentle that anyone can benefit from EMMETT including, infants, the elderly, and those with severe conditions such as Parkinsons, Bell’s palsy, spinal cord injuries, etc.
EMMETT can be extremely effective in restoring muscle and nerve function so even old injuries can be treated and significantly improve. Think of it as a reset for your brain and nervous system!

Wanted to share a great client outcome with you all.
Had a young lady come to see me a few weeks ago having problems with her shoulder after injuring it during some physical exercise. Had no other prior injuries or any problems elsewhere in her body. Her shoulder was constantly tense and was painful most of the time regardless of what she did. She thought a couple of weeks of rest would help but still the pain persist. After only one 30-minute remedial session she had significant improvement to her shoulder pain! The techniques I used included; Emmett, dry needling, myofascial cupping, trigger point therapy, BCF and draining (massage strokes), and myofascial stretching.
Injuries can recover very quickly when we give the body the right messages. Don't just live with it. See what a remedial massage session can do for your injuries (no matter how long you've had it)!

Temporary effects from massage

Sometimes some undesirable effects can occur shortly after a massage. They are no cause for concern as they are completely normal yet not everyone will experience them, nor will they occur every time you have a massage. These effects usually only occur after your first or second massage:
• Slight headache
• Fatigue
• Upset stomach
• Nausea
• Feeling sore/tender
It’s important to note, this is why you need to drink plenty of water after a massage. Your body releases toxins accumulated, and the lymphatic system, kidneys and liver need help flushing them out of your system! This will also help with these effects if they occur.

Inspired by my own circumstances this past week, I would like to share with you all the benefits of CST (Craniosacral Therapy).
CST is very gentle yet profound. It is light touch and yet goes so deep into our bodies and most importantly influences the nervous system.
So, what are the benefits from CST?
Craniosacral Therapy is beneficial for people of all ages (infants through to the elderly). From those who are experiencing any acute and chronic conditions, to the healthy individuals who want to have greater health and vitality. This work is especially beneficial to anyone who has experienced some sort of trauma, whether it be physical or emotional, recent or old. CST allows the body to release the emotional, physical and mental components of a trauma.
This can be trauma experienced from:
* Accidents
* Surgeries
* Slips and falls
* Sports injuries
* Any form of abuse (physical or emotional)
* Emotional trauma (high stress or prolonged stress, grief/loss, tendency to worry)

Trauma can manifest in different ways so you may find physical pain reduce or your emotions are more steady. You may also feel a sense of calm and overall balance inside your body, mind and soul.

Happy Blood Moon everyone!

"A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth comes between the sun and the moon in such a way that it casts its shadow upon the normally bright and vibrant full moon. The shadow usually makes the moon appear a foreboding red colour. Visible only from the night side of the earth, lunar eclipses happen, on average, three times a year.

Since the full moon is a time of culmination, the magnified energy of a lunar eclipse can bring dramatic ends. Old wounds and hidden patterns are revealed, creating a sense of vulnerability but also offering profound healing. A lunar eclipse, with its pull on your senses, can be a good time to check in and see how you feel about the direction of your life. Your psychic abilities and sense of connection with the spirit realm may also be magnified at this time. Just as the clash of energy at the full moon can offer the opportunity for insight and balance between forces, so can the lunar eclipse be a powerful opportunity for personal growth and transformation."

I would like to briefly discuss a technique I often like to use, dry needling! If you haven't had dry needling before it can sound a little intimidating...the process is not painful!

The needle is very fine and depending on the area or the sensitivity of your skin you may feel a tiny sting when the needle first goes into the skin but thereafter there shouldn't be any stinging. The next feeling you may have as the needle enters the deeper layers and into the muscle is some dullness, aches, a quick shot of moderate pain (especially if we hit a trigger point), some referral pain from the trigger point and some twitching of the muscle, which is the ultimate outcome!

Essentially, we're doing trigger point therapy but instead of the therapist pushing into the tissues the needling is going right into the trigger point within the belly of the muscle. If there is no trigger point present the muscles and connective tissues are still receiving benefits from the process and the results are less pain, more movement and a stronger muscle.

Just like massage, we can alter the intensity based on your individual needs and the intensity in one area may be different to another, so I always check in to ensure you're comfortable.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions regarding this technique.

Have you ever thought about massage to relieve your tension and pain? Did you know that massage isn’t just for musculoskeletal problems but can also help relieve symptoms from Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Fatigue, Constipation, and other common complaints that don’t relate directly to muscles we normally think about?
The following improvements can occur instantly and others gradually with regular massage:
• Tension is relieved in muscles. With the release of tension there is a lessening of stress, and you feel better able to cope with emotional stress as well as physical stress.
• Mental and physical fatigue is relieved, leading to renewed energy and ambition.
• Muscles and joints become more flexible. Soreness and stiffness symptoms are relieved.
• Muscles become firmer, and the muscle becomes more defined over time.
• Circulation is improved, thus improving skin tone.
• Digestion, assimilation and elimination problems improve.
• Facial massage can help to prevent blemished skin, tones the skin, and softens fine lines.
• Massage improves body metabolism.
• Deep relaxation is induced and insomnia relieved.
• Muscular spasms and internal cramps are relieved.
• Obesity and poor muscle definition can be improved when combined with regular exercise and a healthy diet.
• Pain in joints, such as arthritis, are relieved.
• Increased circulation delivers oxygenated blood to the body which encourages holistic healing.
• Mental strain is reduced resulting in improved productivity.
• Mild cases of high blood pressure are temporarily reduced.
• You experience a renewed sense of confidence and control.
