Support by completing/sharing Australia's longest-running and largest LGBTIQA+ youth survey now!

Australia's longest-running and largest LGBTIQA+ youth survey is now open!

In Our Words will be our fifth time running this survey, and we need LGBTIQA+ young people (ages 14-21) to tell us about their health, wellbeing, lives, challenges and joys!

Results from this survey - funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing - will help inform policy, advocacy, service providers, health professionals and more about the needs of LGBTIQA+ young people, and how to help them flourish. Our major population surveys are the largest source of Australian data on the health and wellbeing of our communities, so we need as many people as possible to participate!

If you're LGBTIQA+ and aged 14-21, or you know any LGBTIQA+ young people (or parents of young people), please share this post widely!

Online safety is a crucial topic that demands our attention. Let's learn how to protect and empower our young people to be safe in the digital world.

Today is Safer Internet Day, a global day of action that raises awareness about online safety and encourages safer digital experiences for everyone.

Sadistic Online Exploitation (SOE) is a serious form of online abuse where someone deliberately manipulates, humiliates or coerces others for their own gratification or status.

SOE can start with someone pretending to be a friend or love interest, then slowly applying pressure or threats. It can involve sharing explicit content, encouraging self-harm, threats, or humiliation.

If you are concerned that a young person you know is being targeted for SOE it is important to take action.

You can report SOE to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation or to your local state/territory police: https://www.accce.gov.au/report

You can learn more about how to navigate SOE here: https://headspace.org.au/explore-topics/supporting-a-young-person/sadistic-online-exploitation-supporting-a-young-person/

where do I park when I come to headspace Eastern Shore?!

Great question! There are free 2P parking spaces available behind the centre. After you park, look for the green headspace sign (next to Retravision), it will lead you up to the Cambridge Road entrance.
