IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS AT PENINSULA PALMS // Our halls have been well and truly decked with Christmas trees, sparkling lights and festive decorations as we welcome the season of joy. A huge thank you to Netania (Lifestyle) and Ngaree (Administration) for the huge effort they put into transforming our spaces - your hard work has brought so much joy to our residents and staff.

As we celebrate, we’re reminded that Christmas is more than decorations and cheer, it’s a time to reflect on the gift of Jesus and the hope He brings.

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’” - Luke 2:10-11

Wishing everyone a season filled with peace, love, gratitude and the true spirit of Christmas.

REMEMBRANCE DAY // Last week, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, residents from both our Retirement Village and Care Facility gathered out the front of the Community Centre for a heartfelt Remembrance Day ceremony.

The service was led with dignity by Bill, and a wreath was respectfully laid beneath the flagpole by Peter. It was a simple yet deeply meaningful moment for our community to pause, reflect, and honour all who have served and sacrificed in times of war.

Lest we forget.

THE MUELLER COMMUNITY STORY // From humble beginnings to a thriving ministry, the Mueller Community has a rich history built on faith, service, and a heart for people.

As a ministry of the Christian Community Churches of Australia, Mueller Community Church has long been dedicated to creating a welcoming place for worship, prayer, and genuine community. Its journey is closely woven with the establishment of Mueller College in 1990, now home to more than 1,800 students and a key part of the church’s mission to serve families through Christ-centred education.

The broader Mueller Community is also home to a Child Care Centre, Outside School Hours Care, and Peninsula Palms Retirement Village & Aged Care Facility, all co-located on the same campus alongside Mueller Community Church. Together, these ministries create a unique multigenerational environment where faith, learning, and community flourish side-by-side.

Named in honour of 19th-century philanthropist George Mueller, whose remarkable faith and compassion shaped countless lives, the community continues to uphold his legacy of service and trust in God’s provision.

Today, the Mueller Community remains committed to its 2033 vision: a vibrant, prayerful, and outward-focused community making a meaningful impact to the Redcliffe Peninsula and beyond.

A STEP BACK IN TIME TO THE FABULOUS 1950’S // On Friday, 17th October, the Peninsula Palms administration team hosted a wonderful Seniors Morning Tea for the Retirement Village residents with a fun 1950’s theme!

It was fantastic to see so many residents getting into the spirit of the era - from vintage pearls and gloves to dapper bow ties and rockabilly t-shirts. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of nostalgia!

The morning included a delicious spread of sweet and savoury treats, along with games and quizzes that kept everyone entertained. To top it all off, the day concluded with a fashion parade showcasing everyone’s fabulous outfits. Congratulations to Des and Elwyn for winning the Best Dressed competition!

A big thank you to Sovereign Funerals for generously sponsoring this event, and to our administration team for all their hard work in organising such a memorable morning.

UKULELE CONCERT // Recently, our Facility was filled with the joyful sound of the ukulele as TeeJay from the Scarborough Ukulele Players (SUPER) visited for a special 1-hour concert. From the moment the first chord was strummed, our residents were captivated – tapping their toes, clapping along, and even singing some of their favourite songs.

It was wonderful to see so many smiles, with everyone enjoying the lively melodies and cheerful atmosphere. Music has a unique way of bringing people together, and TeeJay certainly made the morning one to remember.

Thank you, TeeJay, for sharing your talent and brightening our day at Peninsula Palms – we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

PPRV AGM // The Annual General Meeting for Peninsula Palms Retirement Village was recently held, and what a fantastic turnout there was! With 45 residents in attendance (and many more who sent their apologies) the room was filled with great conversation, thoughtful questions, and a shared commitment to our Village community.

Reports were presented by members of the Residents’ Committee, including the Manager’s Report, Chairman’s Report, and Treasurer’s Report, along with updates on a range of important topics.

It was a valuable opportunity for residents to ask questions, share ideas, and discuss key matters relating to Village life.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this year’s AGM such a positive, engaging, and productive event. Your involvement ensures that Peninsula Palms continues to be a vibrant and caring community.

PENINSULA PALMS TURNS 23 // This October marks 23 years since Peninsula Palms Aged Care first opened its doors in 2002. From the very beginning, our mission has been to create a caring, supportive, and welcoming home for residents and families, in a distinctly Christian environment. We believe that the contentment and quality of life of our residents are of the utmost importance.

A special mention goes to Ngaree, who has been part of our team since the very first day. Her dedication and compassion are a true reflection of what Peninsula Palms stands for, and we are so grateful for her 23 years of service.

As we look back with pride, we also look forward with excitement. With restoration and renovation of Level 1, we’re stepping into the future with fresh spaces, new opportunities, and the same commitment to quality care and community.

Here’s to 23 years of memories, and many more to come!

During October, we’ll be joining in the celebrations with two Seniors Morning Teas honouring our wonderful Village & Facility residents.

DOT ART // Our Facility Residents were recently treated to a very special visit from the wonderful Caboolture Ladies Crystal Dot Art Group. The ladies arrived with an incredible display of their lovely creations.

Not only did they share their beautiful artwork with us, but they also gifted every resident their very own framed Crystal Dot Art picture to keep. It has been so heartwarming to see these colourful pieces now decorating our residents’ rooms, bringing joy and brightness each day.

As an extra surprise, the group also left behind a stunning collection of Crystal Dot Art decorations, which we can’t wait to display at Christmas time. The morning was rounded out with lots of great conversations, and a delicious morning tea.

We are so grateful to the Caboolture Ladies Crystal Dot Art Group for their generosity, creativity, and the joy they brought into Peninsula Palms.

TWINNIES // Earlier this month, 25 members of our Village enjoyed the September Bus Trip to Beerwah in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. This month’s destination was the incredible Twinnies Pelican & Seabird Rescue, where we were warmly welcomed by Paula and Bridgette – the famous synchronised speaking “Twinnies.”

After morning tea, the group heard all about their amazing work rescuing and rehabilitating seabirds before being taken on a guided tour of the sanctuary. From pelicans practising their flying to cheeky cockatoos and kookaburras, there were plenty of feathered friends to meet. A surprise moment came when a goose egg was found on the driveway and safely placed in an incubator by the Twinnies.

The day continued with lunch and shopping at Beerwah before heading home. Thank you to the Twinnies for their hospitality, bus driver Phillip “Foggie”, and to Paul the Peninsula Palms Chaplain for his support throughout the day.
