Important Update to Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code- 3.2.2A – Food safety management tools
Business owners in the food service, catering, and related retail sectors about the introduction of a new standard, Standard 3.2.2A, under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. This update outlines mandatory requirements for food safety management tools that businesses are obligated to implement.
Standard 3.2.2A is applicable to all businesses in the food service, catering, and related retail sectors. This includes caterers, restaurants, cafes, takeaway shops, pubs, supermarkets, delis, food vans, and similar facilities serving food.
Key Changes:
Standard 3.2.2A is an addition to the Code, enhancing existing Standard 3.2.2 requirements.
It mandates the implementation of one or more food safety management tools based on the nature of food handling activities and business categories.
Action required
Check tour Food Safety Supervisor Certificate: Check your currently nominated food safety supervisor competency certificates. For those with FSS certificate before December 8, 2023, there's a grace period until December 8, 2028, for re-certification. Certifications obtained from December 8, 2023, onward are valid for five years.
