90% of back pain is predictable. We often like to overcomplicate why we are hurt, but often it comes down to to same basic principles of capacity and load.

If your capacity is low, you don’t have to be like that forever. There is a solution to be able to do activities without worrying if your back will “go” or not!

Do you have hip or shin pain that’s stopping you from running??? As a physio who sees runners everyday, most pain is manageable. However, if you can’t hop on one leg without pain in your hip or front of shin, you might have a more serious injury 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Things to look out for:
❌Deep ache in the groin or front of shin
❌Pain at rest or night time
❌Pain is worse with impact
❌Sudden drop in performance

How do we test running ankle injuries? 🏃‍♂️

Here we have Maksim, who has been building back from a long-term tib post tendinopathy injury. We have done some strength testing with our VALD technology and some force plate testing to get more specific data to guide his rehab.

We’ve seen an improvement in his strength and Reactive Strength Index (RSI) this past month, which measures explosiveness getting off the ground! Now we can start to increase his running load again ✅

Bulgarians are a great exercise to build quad strength… but you have to ensure you’re doing them to bias your quads and not your glutes if that’s your goal.

We prescribe bulgarians a lot because they are a great exercise for building knee tolerance to load, as well as single leg strength for runners. It’s and exercise I’d put in almost everyone’s programming!
