I teach Pilates and Yoga classes on Russell Island and live-stream. My live-stream online and Russell Island Yoga classes include various themes for your back, hips, and shoulders to improve your balance and strength. I have a background in Hatha yoga training, Iyengar yoga, and Ashtanga. Focusing on correct alignment, breath work, and meditations in all yoga classes. My Russell Island and live online Pilates classes focus on slow and safe movements, and effective strengthening of the core area, plus lots of gentle stretches. We use resistance bands and small Pilates balls in these Pilates classes. I'm also an independent support worker
with NDIS. A creator of natural essential oil roller blends for Yoga and everyday toxic-free perfumes. Or wear my Kevala Yoga Tree Women's tops. Level 2 Yoga teacher with Yoga Australia.

What is detachment?

😀Detachment is recognizing our feelings without letting them control us.

😃Detachment is letting go of what we can not change and accept.

😄Detachment is choosing how to act rather just reacting.

😀Detachment is stepping away from unhealthy choices or cravings.

😀Detachment is listening without loosing ourselves.

When you find yourself getting anxious or stressed repeat a mantra or affirmation to detach from those thoughts or emotions taking over!

My favourite mantra is the words:
“Let go”

When we let go of what no longer nourishes us we make space to grow and move forwards💜

Pilates can not only help you strengthen around the core but also has many more benefits for
people over 40+.

To get the most from your Pilates exercises aim to avoid these mistakes.

1. Holding your breath: Correct breathing supports core engagement, improves flow and reduces tension.
2. Not modifying when you need to: pushing through exercises that your body isn’t ready to do can slow your progress, cause poor alignment leading to possible issues. Better form gives better results.
3. Overworking the Neck: neck tension can take away the work from the core.
4. Not controlling movements: Pilates is about slow, controlled movements to improve your results.
5. Not working feet: feet influence knee, hip & core stability. Work feet evenly.

Improve your back health with this simple standing backbend stretch.

Our spine is designed for four movements:
1-Flexion(forward bend)
2-Extension (back bend)
3-Rotations (twist)
4-Lateral flexion (side bend)

Too much sitting (forward flexion) can cause back & hip issues, poor posture and low energy levels, knee complaints and more.

Aim to stretch and strengthen your spine in all its four movements, especially back bends and side bends are great for backs!
