Port Stephens is a caring community with a commitment to su***de prevention and to reducing the impact su***de has on communities.
First community forum was 27th March 2008,when 45 people gathered and acknowledged concerns about su***de in the local community. The forum aimed to identify what is already being done to support those who are vulnerable in the area and discuss what else can be done to address this important community issue.

PORT Stephens Su***de Prevention Network was formed to work with existing services, address the systemic and structural issues such as lack of resources, gaps in service provision and delivery; look at community needs.
· To raise awareness that there is an issue of su***de in the community and develop su***de prevention strategies in the community.
· To identify available local resource and to know about su***de prevention.
· To bring in services that aren’t available and strives to ensure those affected by su***de have support services.
