After closing our waitlist in June 2025, we’re so excited to now offer availability with our wonderful OT, Rose, via telehealth.

This is a great option for families needing flexible, accessible support from home. Rose provides both assessments and ongoing therapy tailored to your child’s needs.

Welcome to our new OT Play Series! We’re breaking down some of our favourite paeds resources (featuring our OT Tess) to show what we’re really working on through play.

First up is ... 🎈Balloons

It’s just a balloon… but it’s also a very versatile therapy tool 😄

Keeping a balloon off the ground is a fun, engaging way to target a wide range of skills. We’re working on hand-eye coordination, timing, and motor planning as children track and respond to the balloon’s movement. It also encourages crossing midline (using both sides of the body together), which is important for brain integration and functional tasks.

Balloons are also amazing for regulation, they naturally slow the pace of play compared to balls, giving children more time to process and respond, which can reduce frustration and increase success.

Depending on the childs age, blowing up a balloon or practicing blowing up a balloon can also support deep breathing by providing a visual.

You can adapt this so easily: try using one hand only, alternating hands, adding movement like jumping or spinning, or playing with a partner to build turn taking and social interaction.
