Skin needling isn’t designed to deliver instant results, and that’s actually the point.

Skin needling works by supporting your skin’s natural repair processes, including triggering the formation of healthy new collagen. This takes time to occur.

Unlike treatments that focus on immediate surface change, this approach relies on gradual, progressive improvement as your skin responds between sessions.

Yes, a single session may provide some temporary improvement.

But a series of treatments is where the real value lies, with each session building on the last to support more cumulative, longer-term changes in skin quality, texture, and overall skin function.

This is why treatment plans are often spaced and repeated, rather than performed as a once-off.

Some non-negotiables at Halo Skin Aesthetics.

Patient safety always comes first. Every treatment is guided by careful assessment, an understanding of facial anatomy, your medical suitability and a clear, considered plan.

No two faces are the same, which is why personalised treatment planning matters. It’s not about following trends, it’s about understanding what is appropriate for each individual.

Natural, balanced outcomes are always the goal. Treatments should enhance what’s already there, not overpower it.

And ongoing education is essential. Staying up to date allows me to refine my approach and ensure the care I provide is safe, evidence-based and aligned with best practice.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, personalised approach to your skin and aesthetic care, a consultation is the best place to start.

There are a few things I find myself explaining in clinic quite often when it comes to skin.

These aren’t trends or quick fixes, but simple truths that shape how your skin behaves over time.

Healthy skin quality is the foundation. Focusing only on one concern often overlooks the bigger picture, including hydration, texture, tone and collagen.

Consistency also matters more than complexity. A simple, well-structured routine and daily sun protection will support your skin far more than constantly changing products.

And finally, skin changes gradually. Collagen production slows, cell turnover takes longer, and the skin’s structure evolves over time, which is why a considered, long-term approach is so important.

If you’re unsure where to start, a consultation is the best place to begin.

Have you ever noticed that your skin seems to take longer to recover than it used to?

Maybe a breakout lingers a little longer, or your skin takes more time to calm after irritation or treatments. It’s something many people notice over time, and there’s real biology behind it.

As we age, the skin’s repair processes gradually slow down. Fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin, become less active, and cell turnover begins to take longer than the roughly 28-day cycle we see in younger skin. Structural changes in the skin can also affect how resilient it is and how efficiently it responds to repair signals.

This is one of the reasons supporting skin health becomes increasingly important over time. Consistent sun protection, appropriate skincare, and personalised treatment planning can all play a role in helping support the skin’s natural repair processes.

If you’ve noticed changes in how your skin behaves or recovers, a consultation can help us assess your skin and discuss what approach may be appropriate for you.

Your facial muscles do more than create expression, they play a key role in how the face changes over time.

Every smile, frown or raised brow is driven by a network of muscles working just beneath the skin. With repeated movement, these patterns can gradually contribute to the formation of lines.

Some muscles lift, while others pull downward. Over time, differences in muscle strength and activity can influence things like brow position, facial balance, jaw tension and how certain lines develop.

This is why understanding facial anatomy is such an important part of aesthetic practice. It allows treatment planning to be based not just on what we see on the surface, but on how your face moves and functions as a whole.

If you’ve noticed changes in your skin or expression patterns, a consultation is the best place to start.

When it comes to maintaining firmness and skin resilience over time, I focus on the fundamentals.

Collagen naturally declines as we age, but our daily skincare habits can go along way to protect and support our skin's collagen, keep it looking good and functioning well in the long term.

My 3 skincare non-negotiables for collagen support?
- Broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen every single day to reduce collagen breakdown and photoageing
- Vitamin C in the morning for antioxidant support to protect existing collagen and a great skin brightener
- Vitamin A in the evening to support collagen production and cellular turnover, for smoother and more radiant skin

No complicated routines. No trends. Just consistent, evidence-informed steps that support skin structure over time.

Healthy ageing isn’t about chasing quick fixes, it’s about protecting and supporting your skin every day.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your skin is stop.

When the skin barrier is compromised, more actives aren’t always better. In fact, continuing strong products can slow recovery, increase sensitivity, and lead to ongoing irritation.

For example, after treatments like microneedling or during periods of redness, dryness, or stinging, we may recommend temporarily pausing actives such as retinoids, exfoliating acids, or vitamin A products. Instead, the focus shifts to barrier repair, hydration, and calming support to allow the skin to recover properly.

This is where personalised advice matters. Knowing what to pause, for how long, and what to use instead can make a significant difference to how your skin heals and responds long term.

Why do we double cleanse before skin treatments in clinic?

The first cleanse is more than a formality, it’s a foundational step.

This initial cleanse is designed to gently remove makeup, sunscreen, excess sebum, and daily buildup, preparing the skin for deeper treatment steps. When done well, it supports better product performance and overall skin comfort.

The second cleanse goes a step further.
Once surface debris has been removed, the second cleanse works to purify the skin more thoroughly, helping to clear residual impurities and refine the skin surface. This ensures the skin is properly prepped, balanced, and receptive before any active treatment begins.

This same principle applies at home. Proper cleansing, especially in the evening, helps support skin function and allows the rest of your routine to work more effectively.
