Why triglycerides should be corrected before LDL and weight loss.
Triglycerides are not just a lipid marker.
They reflect ongoing hepatic fat production.
Physiology in simple terms:
Carbohydrates → converted to fat in the liver (de novo lipogenesis)
That fat → exported into blood as triglycerides (VLDL)
Therefore:
• High TG = liver converting excess carbs into fat
• Indicates early metabolic dysfunction even if glucose is “normal”
• LDL patterns often improve only after TG normalizes
This is why in functional and metabolic nutrition, Phase-1 intervention focuses on:
✔ Reducing hepatic fat load
✔ Improving insulin signaling
✔ Lowering triglyceride production
✔ Supporting liver clearance pathways
Not aggressive weight loss.
Not isolated cholesterol suppression.
But metabolic correction at the organ level.
Triglycerides tell the story of what the liver is doing daily.
Ignore it, and treatment stays cosmetic.
Address it, and the system resets.
