Here are two of my favourite ways to support your body during pregnancy. These helped me though my pregnancies on those tight days.

Diaphragmatic Breathing
A simple yet powerful thing you can do during pregnancy — helping you connect to your pelvic floor, release tension, and prepare your body for birth.
Sit on a stability ball, chair or end of your bed with feet flat and a little wider than hip-width. Place your hands on the sides of your belly. Inhale deeply, letting your ribs expand in every direction. Feel your belly soften and your pelvic floor relax. Then exhale slowly, letting everything gently settle.

Cat Cow
Releases tension in the spine, encourages bub into a great position, and feels so good on those achy pregnancy days.
Simply start on your hands and knees, wrists under shoulders, knees under hips. Inhale through your nose as you round your back and draw your belly up. Exhale through your mouth as you arch your back and let your belly soften toward the floor. Move slowly and keep your arms long throughout.

Try 5 to 10 rounds of each and notice how you feel.

Always remember to work within your bodies limits.

Each session is guided by what the body needs on the day, supporting comfort as it adjusts to ongoing changes.

When the body feels more settled, it can often respond more easily to physical load, fatigue, and the demands of late pregnancy.

As pregnancy progresses, the body carries additional load through the back, hips, and legs, which can sometimes lead to muscle tension, fatigue, or a feeling of heaviness.

Pregnancy massage supports circulation and muscular relaxation using safe positioning that keeps both mother and baby comfortable. From around 37 weeks, massage can also help the body prepare for labour by encouraging pelvic and muscular flexibility, easing tension, and supporting overall relaxation.

By helping the body release tightness and improve circulation, massage can make day-to-day movement and labour feel more manageable.

Self-care awareness: changing positions regularly, taking breaks from prolonged standing, and gentle stretching can support muscular comfort and readiness for labour.

Pregnancy brings many structural and hormonal changes to the body. As the baby grows, muscles, joints, and ligaments gently adapt to support the body’s changing posture and weight.

Bowen therapy during pregnancy uses gentle work through the back, hips, and pelvis to support muscular balance and nervous system calm, helping the body become more comfortable as it approaches labour.

Self-care awareness: allowing time for rest and reducing unnecessary physical strain can support these natural adjustments during pregnancy.

In late pregnancy, swelling isn’t only about extra fluid. It can also be influenced by feeling tired, stretched physically, and carrying more day-to-day load. When the body has less time to rest and recover, circulation can feel slower and adapting to change may feel harder.

Reflexology gently works with points on the feet that are connected to circulation, lymphatic flow, and nervous system balance. It isn’t about directly treating oedema. Instead, it creates space for the body to relax and regulate, which may help fluid move more comfortably.

When the system feels calmer, fluid balance often feels steadier too.

Salt Lotus is a space for gentle, purposeful care - named after the healing power of salt and the resilience of the lotus, a flower that blooms through the mud. Here, your body and mind are supported to restore balance, ease tension, and flourish at their own pace.

My approach recognises how closely the body’s physical, emotional, and nervous system responses are linked. Stress, hormones, pain, fatigue, pregnancy, recovery, and emotional load are all carried through how we move, rest, and feel each day. Sessions are shaped around gentle nervous system support and a quiet return to balance, creating space for the body to settle and heal in its own time.

A large part of my practice is dedicated to women’s health, supporting the physical, hormonal, and emotional changes that occur at different stages of life. While there is a strong focus on gentle, supportive care, I also work thoughtfully with muscle tension, pain, stress, and recovery, providing care for anyone who needs it.

Swelling is often most noticeable in the legs, ankles, and feet, particularly at the end of the day or in warmer weather.

During pregnancy, Bowen therapy for oedema focuses on gentle lower-body work to support circulation and lymphatic flow. By easing tension through the hips, legs, and feet, the body may feel better supported in managing these fluid changes.

This gentle lower-body support may help improve comfort and ease of movement as you approach the final stages of pregnancy.

Massage helps soften this built-up muscle tension and supports circulation, allowing the tissues to unwind and the nervous system to receive the message that it’s safe to relax.

As the body settles, breathing naturally deepens, the stress response eases, and the mind becomes calmer and clearer.

You may even drift off to sleep on the table.
