Happy Random Acts of Kindness Day!

Today is a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a real difference.

Random Acts of Kindness Day encourages simple, thoughtful gestures - whether that’s giving someone a compliment, sending a quick message to check in, or doing something helpful without being asked.

These small actions don’t take much time, but they can have a positive impact on someone’s day.

There’s also a personal benefit: acts of kindness can boost mood, strengthen connections, and support overall wellbeing.

Kindness doesn’t have to be big or dramatic - it just needs to be intentional.

Today marks 18 years since the National Apology to the Stolen Generations was delivered by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in Federal Parliament on 13 February 2008.

It is estimated that as many as one in three Indigenous children were taken from their families between 1910 and the 1970s under formal government assimilation policies.

These policies impacted most Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia. Children were removed to institutions, adopted, or fostered to non-Indigenous families.

The trauma of these actions continues to affect First Nations communities today.

We honour the Stolen Generations and stand in support of healing and justice.

For young people, the internet is where learning, friendships and everyday life happen. It’s how they study, socialise, create and explore the world. For families, it’s also where new challenges and online risks can show up.

Safer Internet Day is a moment to pause and think about what young people are experiencing online - and how the adults in their lives can support them.

Small actions make a big difference. Checking in, starting open conversations, sharing helpful guidance, or modelling positive online habits can all help create safer digital spaces for kids and teens.

Day 16: Respect is knowing that you can help prevent violence against women.

Everyone deserves to be safe, equal and respected.

But right now in Australia, that isn’t the reality. More than 1 in 3 women have experienced men’s violence.

Not all disrespect leads to violence against women – but all violence against women begins with disrespect.

All of us have the power to change that by respecting women wherever
we live, learn, work and play.

Join the 16 Days of Activism and help build communities where women are safe and equal. It all starts with respect.
