How common is mental health? πΏ
According to the most recent National Study of Mental Health and Wellbeing, the prevalence (commonness) of 12-month mental disorders in Australia are:
β’ Anxiety disorders (affecting 3.4 million people or about 17% of the population)
β’ Affective (mood) disorders (affecting 1.5 million people or about 7.5% of the population)
β’ Substance use disorders (affecting 650,000 people or just over 3.3% of the population).
An estimated 8,514,700 Australians aged 16-85 (approximately 43% of the population) have experienced at least one mental disorder at some point in their lives.
