We’ve tightened registration requirements for Plan Management providers. During the registration audit and assessment process, these providers must now be able to prove that all relevant staff have appropriate qualifications, professional body memberships, and NDIS worker screening checks. This also applies to registration renewals.

Plan Managers help NDIS participants manage their plan funding by monitoring plan budgets, managing NDIS claims, paying providers and keeping track of how much funding is left on a plan, so it’s vital they have the right skills, experience and qualifications for the job.

For information about accepted qualifications and professional memberships, see the link to the guide in the comments.

Mandatory registration for supported independent living (SIL) and platform providers will start on 1 July 2026.

This change will strengthen oversight and ensure providers are accountable for meeting quality and safety standards. Registered providers must pass audits, suitability assessments, and comply with strict worker screening and incident reporting requirements.

This announcement follows extensive consultation and aligns with recommendations from the NDIS Review, Disability Royal Commission, NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce, and the NDIS Commission’s Own Motion Inquiries.

We will share guidance on transition arrangements in early 2026, giving providers time to prepare while maintaining continuity of support.

People with disability face a higher risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

All NDIS providers, registered or unregistered, must take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to these behaviours. Any act of abuse against a person with disability is a serious breach of the Code of Conduct. Bans and legal action can follow for those who fail to uphold it.

Following processes supported by the Code ensures risks are managed, incidents are escalated promptly, and participants are protected.

🤝 All providers – registered or not – must act with integrity, honesty and transparency under the NDIS Code of Conduct. This includes declaring any real or perceived conflicts of interest.

Upholding these standards builds trust, ensures participants can make informed decisions, and empowers providers and workers to deliver safe and quality supports and services.
