Psychosocial disability is when a mental health condition has a long-term impact on everyday life. π§
It is not about having βa bad weekβ. It is about the ongoing effect the condition can have on things like routines, relationships, study or work, and getting out into the community.
Under the NDIS, psychosocial disability is usually linked to a condition that is likely to be permanent and affects how you function day to day. The focus is on the impact, not the label. β
NDIS psychosocial supports can help with:
π‘ daily routines and Assistance with Daily Living (when tasks feel too hard)
π
planning the week, appointments, and building structure
πΆ community access and participation, at a safe pace
π€ connecting with services and supports (with choice and control)
𧩠building skills for independence and confidence over time
Support should feel calm, respectful, and flexible, because needs can change from day to day. πΏ
