I used to be a bloated, moody nurse trapped in a system that didn’t have answers.

I was working in high-stress environments, crash dieting, binge drinking, and wondering why I felt like garbage all the time. I’d go to my doctor. They’d run tests. Everything came back ā€œnormal.ā€ But I wasn’t normal. I was struggling.

The conventional medicine system I worked in had no solutions for me. So I started looking elsewhere. That’s when I found naturopathy. And everything changed!

But here’s what really pushed me to go deeper:

Getting pregnant. Having little people to care for. Realising that my kids were watching me. Learning from me. And if I didn’t model what it looked like to care for your body and mind, how could I expect them to?

I studied harder. I healed myself. I became a Naturopath as-well as a Registered Nurse. I combined both worlds the science of functional medicine with the wisdom of naturopathy to understand exactly what was happening in my gut and how to actually fix it.

It’s Friday night, which means we chill out, watch a movie, and make our own "takeaway."

The kids requested pizza, so here we are at Woolies, grabbing what we need.

Could I find ā€œperfectā€ pizza bases and snacks for triple the price at a specialty health food store? Sure. But we’re in a hurry, this is real life, and I’m a big believer in doing the best you can with the resources you have.

Here’s the reality of sustainable health:

These pizza bases have seed oils, which I’d usually avoid. But by making them at home, we’re dodging a tonne of other nasty additives from the takeaway shop, we’re saving money, and the kids get the joy of making their own dinner (which they always love).

This is not a failure. This is a win.

This is the entire philosophy I teach inside the Beat the Bloat Blueprint. It’s not about 100% perfection, 100% of the time. That’s a recipe for burnout and misery.
