Here we are in December - crazy really. I think this is the fastest year of my life so far…..
We are at that time of the year where the super organised people are finished or very close to finished their Christmas gift shopping & the rest of us have not actually started to think about it yet 🤣. I am a shocker - absolute last minute kinda gal.

I have a couple of options that can make lovely stocking fillers or main gifts…..A gift voucher for time on my massage table is a lovely, thoughtful gift for a special someone in your life. It can be for an amount or a particular service - always nice if your person can choose their service & I am happy to be flexible to their needs too.

I have vouchers available in the studio which I can personalise for you to pick up or I have an online option EGift vouchers where you can self serve & either send the voucher direct to your someone or send to yourself to pop in a card for Christmas Day.
I have seen some very creative presentations of the EGift vouchers 🥰

Here’s the link for the online option https://squareup.com/gift/T1XJ0AAK72Y6S/order

Or if you would like to arrange a physical voucher feel free to flick me a message either over FB or at 0412590610 & we can arrange.

The beauty of the online options is I have seen them purchased Christmas morning 😅 for that absolute last minute gift - they are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year 🤗

Skin Cancer………
What has that got to do with massage you might ask?

I often will get asked to look at a spot on someone’s body especially if they live alone - there might not be someone checking on their back or regions which don’t get seen so much.
As you know I can not diagnose (it’s out of my scope of practice) however I am more than happy to take a photo on your phone or to suggest you have your GP or skin specialist review a spot if you are unsure…
I was prompted by one of my lovely clients to get myself checked & also had my husband checked after growing up in SA & both being lovers of the outdoors. I am pleased to say we were both clear albeit we both have sun damage so will be important to have annual checks to stay on top of any changes.
I have popped a photo of the different types of mole / skin cancers with some info along with where we went to have our consultation.
Some GPs will do this check so please make sure you are asking the question. Melanoma can be a killer - I know 2 lovely people who have lost their life to Melanoma.
Look after your skin & get a regular check up & as we head into our warmer seasons please wear a good quality sun protection, along with a hat & sunglasses. These little lesions can begin in the most obscure places. X###

My recent newsletter included details in regard to GST (Goods & Services Tax). Now it has been formalised with the Australian Taxation Office I thought it was appropriate to make it public on the social forums for your information.

I consider myself to be a micro business. Over the past 6+ years my little business has grown which I am very proud of & thankful to you all who trust me to look after you & so often refer your family & friends. I have met & treated so many wonderful people over this time & my business has grown to something I didn’t imagine when I set out on this journey 7 years ago when I left the Bank.
I am very grateful for this 2nd career & I love it very much.
Because of the growth of the business I am at a point whereby I have had to register for GST (Good & Services Tax). Most Allied Health modalities such as physio , chiro etc come under APHRA registration (registered with Medicare & regulated) & are GST exempt. Unfortunately Massage, Remedial Massage is not regulated or recognised in this way in Australia & so therefore when the GST threshold for turnover of the business is projected to meet or exceed I am required to charge & pay GST.

I have just spent an hour on the phone to the ATO & it is now official from 1 November 2025 there will be GST added to my services menu - its like I am an extra tax collector for the Australian Government.
I have had suggestions of reducing my hours / number of clients plus other suggestions but at the end of the day this is my sole income & my passion so I figure while I am still able I will make the most of the opportunity & keep helping as many people as I can.
GST is added to many things that we pay for - most of the time we probably don’t even recognise there is a price or cost before GST we just look at the bottom line…….

So what I will do is flick a text to those who are booked in the near future just as a reminder of the increase, amount & reason…….for full disclosure. Thank you again for your continued support - it is because of you I am where I am today.

It seems my Sundays have had a massage focus lately - that’s perfectly fine if it means I improve my skills & develop my knowledge.
This year our professional association is having a Virtual Conference - we have over 3000 members Australia wide so makes it much more cost effective to get more people together.
I wonder if it would have been done like this pre-COVID?
Anyway a great morning so far looking at research, new development opportunities & protecting the business when it comes to social media.

Hoping you are enjoying your Sunday - I have just done a meditation so takes me into a lunch break which was lovely.

This week coming I have a couple of appointments available

Monday 20/10 at 4pm
Friday 24/10 at 3:30pm
Saturday 25/10 at 11:30am

You should be able to book online but if not feel free to flick me through a message & I will lock you in 0412590610.

Thank you & enjoy your Sunday xx

Here we are almost 1/2 way through October.

I looked up the definition of time 🕰️ - “Time is the continuous progression of existence that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present and into the future”. What we know is that once it’s gone we don’t get it back….. Who out there feels like they are always future focussed due to scheduling for work & planning. It does my head in - I for one would love ❤️ for time to stand still, if only for a moment just to enjoy more about the present.
Trying to stay more in the present is a constant battle, it’s one of the reasons I encourage you to stop & not talk while on the table - be present in that moment. Give your physical & emotional health that time out to reset ……..

Living in the moment is wonderful however sometimes we do need to plan to be able to get stuff done - appointments for instance, massage appointments to be more specific 😅
This week I have a couple of appointments available….
Tomorrow - Monday 13/10 at either 9:30am or 11:30am
Saturday 18/10 at 11:30am
All of them can be for longer treatments if required. Should be able to book online or feel free to flick me a message at 0412590610.
If these times don’t fit for you then hop on the waitlist. There are a few appointments left for October if you are looking later in the month. Make a cuppa ☕️ & scroll through the booking system to find your spot.

Enjoy your Sunday arvo - we have had a great day so far - a little bit of house stuff, some sunshine ☀️ with Axel, I have done some training for continuing education, John had time on the massage table (long overdue) & soon we will welcome Kaine, Ash & miss Evelyn for dinner - a perfect Sunday for us. Hoping yours has been equally wonderful 💖🤗
Take care & see you in the studio soon xx

Heat Bags 🥰. Love them. They help to relax the body & muscles. Heat is such a beautiful healing aid. Warmth helps to dilate blood vessels helping with increased blood flow. Increased blood flow helps with healing. Muscles have good blood flow, tendons & ligaments not so much so heat can aid in assisting the body when we have an injury or pain.

We went along to the markets at McLaren Vale Visitor Centre on the October Long weekend. We hadn’t been in the centre for sometime. It was great how they support many local producers.
I was due for new heat bags - previously had some beautiful bags made by a bank colleague. I came across a young lady & her stall with lots of different shapes & sizes of bags which she makes herself. A great opportunity to support a local - if you are looking for heat bags I highly recommend Abbey’s Market - you will find her on instagram & at local markets. I see today her heat bags are available at Tealicious at Willunga too
I bought some extra large ones - as you can see they will cover the back nicely ❣️

Look up Abbey on Instagram abbeys_market

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday & I will see you in the studio soon 💆‍♀️

I love dry body brushing. I have often discussed its benefits. Here is an amazing, detailed look at how it can benefit your body, your lymphatic system & your over all health 🤗🥰

🌿✨ The Power of Dry Brushing: A Scientific Look at an Ancient Self-Care Practice

🪥🩷🌿🧠🫀

Dry brushing, also known as cutaneous brushing or skin brushing, is an ancient wellness ritual that uses a firm, natural-bristle brush on dry skin in specific, rhythmic strokes — always directed toward the heart.

Though simple in practice, the physiological benefits are far-reaching. This mindful technique stimulates the lymphatic, circulatory, nervous, and integumentary (skin) systems — supporting detoxification, energy, and renewal from the surface inward.

Let’s explore what science and experience reveal about this beautiful ritual.

1. Stimulating the Lymphatic System

💧🌀💚

At the heart of dry brushing lies its ability to activate lymph flow — the body’s internal “clean-up” network that:
• Drains excess interstitial fluid
• Removes cellular waste and toxins
• Transports immune cells
• Supports detoxification through lymph nodes

Gentle traction on the skin opens the superficial lymphatic capillaries, encouraging stagnant lymph to move and helping to reduce puffiness, congestion, and inflammation.

Fun Fact: The lymphatic system has no pump like the heart — it relies on muscle movement, breathing, and mechanical stimulation (like dry brushing!) to keep fluid flowing.

2. Enhancing Circulation & Skin Vitality

🩸✨🧴

Each stroke of the brush improves microcirculation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin while supporting cellular turnover. Expect:
• Improved blood flow
• Brighter, more even tone
• A natural, youthful glow

Consistent brushing refines texture and helps maintain skin elasticity over time.

3. Supporting Detoxification Pathways

♻️🧽🫧

Your skin is one of your body’s largest detox organs. Through gentle exfoliation, dry brushing:
• Removes dead skin cells
• Unclogs pores
• Activates sweat and sebaceous glands

This process clears the way for your skin to “breathe” and enhances your body’s ability to eliminate waste naturally.

4. Activating the Nervous System

⚡🧠🧘‍♀️

The skin is rich with sensory nerve endings. Brushing stimulates these receptors, which communicate with the brain to:
• Promote mental clarity and alertness
• Encourage endorphin release
• Boost energy and focus

It’s a natural, uplifting start to your morning routine.

5. Strengthening Skin Immunity

🛡️🧬🌸

Regular dry brushing helps reinforce the skin’s barrier and microbiome by supporting:
• A balanced acid mantle (the skin’s protective film)
• Reduced transepidermal water loss
• Lower risk of irritation or infection

Healthy skin equals stronger immunity and resilience.

Organs That Indirectly Benefit from Dry Brushing

🫁 🫀 🧠 🦴 🌿

Because the lymphatic system interacts with nearly every organ, improved lymph flow also benefits:
1. Liver – Reduced toxic load = enhanced detox efficiency
2. Kidneys – Easier filtration and metabolic balance
3. Gut – Supports fat absorption and immune modulation
4. Lungs – Less congestion, freer breathing
5. Skin – Improved tone, texture, and glow

How to Dry Brush Properly

🪥🧴🧖‍♀️

Proper sequence matters — and this is where many get it wrong.
1. Start by clearing main drainage points:
Neck → Clavicles → Underarms → Abdomen → Groin
This “opens the gates” for lymph flow.
2. Then brush the limbs:
Begin at the feet and hands, working upward in long, sweeping motions toward the heart.
3. Use a natural bristle brush (avoid synthetic).
4. Avoid areas that are broken, inflamed, or sensitive.
5. Best done before showering, followed by a hydrating oil or lotion to nourish the skin barrier.

Conclusion

Dry brushing isn’t just a skincare ritual — it’s a cellular stimulant, immune ally, and lymph-moving powerhouse. This mindful act connects body and breath, circulation and serenity, outer glow and inner flow.

So grab your brush, take a deep breath, and give your body the love and movement it deserves. 🌿💫

Ahhhh a long weekend …….so nice & the beginning of daylight savings. It is the 1st indication of the days beginning to get a little warmer.
Sunshine ☀️ always makes everything feel better 🤗
We went to Normanville yesterday - it was lovely. Beach was clean & the water was clean. Strangely Axel didn’t look to go in but was happy to run along the waters edge chasing the little flies as he has done since he was a puppy. It was a day good for the soul ❤️

Today is a garden day & tomorrow will be my regular day off - it like a mini staycation 😅

The week has a couple of appointments available

Thursday 9/10 @ 9:30am
Friday 10/10 @ 1:30pm
You should be able to book online or send me a message at 0412 590 610

Enjoy today whatever you are doing - enjoy the extra daylight at the end of the day.

I’m pretty slack on socials at the moment. I have thoughts over the day & it would be easy to hop on & do a video update but I usually look like I have had a massage by the end of my day so I don’t…….😂
Anyway here I am 🥰
I had an awesome Sunday - to retain my provider numbers I need to do at least 20 hours of professional development each year. It can be quite expensive depending on what I want to focus on or where I want to improve. So far this year I had opted for sessions to build on & consolidate previous learning. Then 🥁 the opportunity came up to attend a 1 day intro session on Oncology Massage.

The day was lovely - like minded therapists focused on helping people experiencing cancer, cancer treatment & those left with the scars of treatment - survivors.
It was a great day full of information not only massage related but some of the latest developments in what we know about cancer - so interesting. There was some practice - some new techs for me also cementing further what I know to be true - how important safe touch is on our nervous system, especially our parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, restore). Feeds beautifully into my passion for the lymphatic system too. It was only an intro - I will most likely embark on the wider modules. I don’t want to niche however I do want to be able to offer the best treatments I can for you & your loved ones ❤️.
Have an amazing week. I look forward to seeing you in the Studio soon ❣️

01/09/2025

By the date it is officially Spring 🌻. Observing the plants, animals & birds we have been in a change of seasons for a few weeks……so nice the day light is getting longer - I love that ❣️
The video is from the end of last week - the hale was crazy but weather this time of year is often crazy & so changeable - I do love FB memories that come & remind me this is somewhat normal for us this time of year.

So what does change of seasons mean to you?
It might not mean anything…….it might be continuing on your current trajectory or it might be that “line in the sand” to make a slight shift?

I am seeing people with a few extra aches at the moment - arthritis sufferers are feeling the effects of the changeable weather - massage can help reduce the pain. Keeping moving is so important. Where arthritis is concerned - “move it or loose it” Is a fact 🙃.
Not moving can help speed muscle atrophy - weakness & muscle loss which then starts a spiral because depending on our life stage it becomes more challenging to rebuild. Working with an exercise physio like Move to Live at Seaford is a great option to have a plan made specifically for you & your needs to keep you moving & mitigate the risk of your symptoms worsening.

Massage can help make you feel better - it’s not a “fix” it’s an enabler. Reducing nervous tension, helping the fascia & tissue relax & release, Manual Lymphatic treatments can also help your body manage inflammation - giving your brain space to focus on more positive thoughts & helping your body to rest, digest & restore. Feel free to hop online & book in or reach out for a chat to discuss best options for treatment for you individual needs.

Enjoy the new beginnings of the new season, enjoy the longer daylight hours. See you soon in the studio ☺️
