They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them

Throwback to an awesome moment during National Carers Week

Two incredible South Australian Carers attended a special gathering at Government House with the Governor-General of Australia alongside Carers Australia and Carers from across the country.

Hosted in celebration of National Carers Week, the event shone a spotlight on the diverse experiences of Carers, the challenges and resilience behind every caring role.

Our SA representatives shared their personal stories and spoke about the importance of recognising yourself as a Carer and reaching out for support through organisations like Carers SA and Carer Gateway.

We’re so proud to see South Australian Carers representing the Carer community on the national stage, helping ensure the voices of Carers everywhere are heard and valued.

South Australia’s first Sensory Bus. A Metro bus designed by the autistic community for the autistic community.

This purpose-built sensory bus is intended to provide a welcoming environment for autistic people and their families who want to access a sensory space at major events.

We’ve converted a Metro bus into South Australia’s first Sensory Bus.

Wrapped in artwork created by members of our autistic community (Lili and Amanda).

Designed by the autistic community - for the autistic community.

So that this purpose-built sensory bus can provide a welcoming environment for autistic people and their families who want to access a sensory space at major events.

Today we joined the Carers Australia National Policy Forum, where leaders and stakeholders from across the country came together to discuss the role Carers play in the health systems.

We heard from Kartika Medcraft-Smith (DHDA), who provided an update on the National Carer Strategy and Action Plan and how it connects to health policy and practice.
Deakin University shared insights on systemic barriers and enablers, while Flinders University’s Dr Sara Javanparast and Professor Jennifer Tieman explored what best practice Carer support really looks like.

It was a powerful day of collaboration to better advocate for the needs of Carers in the health sector.
