Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state wherein a person is able to achieve a keen focus that they would be unable to achieve in a conscious state. In this keenly focused state they are able to respond to suggestions made by the Therapist, which relate to what they want to change or achieve. So how does Hypnosis help? Someone comes to the Hypnotherapist to make change. They want to quit smoking, lose weight, stop biting their nails, bed-wetting, phobias, depression, insomnia, anxiety, addictions or stress reduction. Smoking isn’t just a habit, it’s a signal. A signal that something inside is stressed, anxious, or seeking comfort.
If you feel the urge, ask yourself: Am I reaching for a cigarette, or is my mind trying to soothe, distract, or escape?
The more you notice the pattern, the more you realise who’s really in control, you or the habit. Because when awareness steps in, choice returns.

Thoughts are powerful, but they are not facts.
A thought is simply a sentence your mind offers you. It can sound convincing. It can feel urgent. It can even create emotion in your body. And yet, it is still just a thought.
If you step back for a moment and observe it, rather than automatically believing it, something interesting happens. Space appears. Choice appears.
You might notice a thought like, “I’m not good enough,” or “This will go wrong,” and instead of gripping it tightly, you can gently say, “That’s a thought… not a truth.”
The more you practice observing your thinking, the less controlled you feel by it. Because when you stop treating every thought as a fact, you start reclaiming your power.

We book the dentist twice a year without question.
We sit in the chair.
We open wide.
We prevent problems before they become painful.

Sometimes the hesitation isn’t about now.

It can feel like you’re in a meeting, a conversation, a relationship… and the words are there… but something tightens. Your chest. Your throat. Your thoughts. And you hear yourself say, “It’s fine,” when it isn’t.
And you might wonder, Why can’t I just say what I think?
For many people, the roots go back further than they realise. A moment as a child when speaking up led to embarrassment. Or conflict. Or rejection. Or feeling misunderstood.
In that instant, a very intelligent unconscious mind may have made a powerful decision:
“It’s safer to stay quiet.”
And because the unconscious is protective, it keeps running that old program… even though you’re no longer that small person in that old situation.
