About Us
Illawarra Heart Centre is a specialist medical practice with sites in Shellharbour and Wollongong. We are a growing practice with a motivated and dedicated team of Cardiologists, Cardiac Technicians and support staff who aim to provide high quality Cardiology services to patients in the Illawarra area.
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and well organized person on a Part-Time basis to fill the role of Medical Secretary and receptionist. The successful applicant will be required for 3 days per week with the potential to increase in the future. Additional hours may be available in the event of sick leave and annual leave coverage. Days required are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. The successful applicant will be required to work at both Shellharbour and Wollongong offices.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Reception desk duties including greeting patients, maintaining patient bookings and billing and receipting of patients through Genie medical software and EFTPOS facilities
- Phone duties including making and answering phone calls
- Clerical duties including scanning and filing, sending and receiving faxes, typing of letters and reports and mailing documents as requested.
- Banking duties as required.
- Assist with patient procedures, including ECG; Holter Monitor and Blood Pressure readings.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in secretarial and reception duties, preferably in a medical setting.
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- good computer knowledge and skills with the ability to learn and adapt to changes in software or equipment.
-ability to learn new skills quickly and accurately.
- well organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
- high level of written and verbal communication skills
- excellent attention to detail
- able to maintain a professional demeanor at all times when dealing with patients on the phone and in person
- Flexibility in regard to work hours and days.
Desirable
- Previous experience with Genie medical software
- Previous medical reception experience
- Knowledge of medical terms, in particular Cardiology
- Previous experience with Medicare and DVA claims, Eclipse billing and HPOS.
- Experience performing ECG, holter monitor and blood pressure monitor fittings, or the desire to learn.

The successful applicant will be provided with training in all required aspects of the role.
