Illawarra Heart Centre Illawarra Heart Centre is a specialist cardiology Medical Practice located in Shellharbour and Wollongong, staffed by Dr Divina Brillante, PHD.

Illawarra Heart Centre was created to provide an innovative and high quality Cardiology services to people in the Wollongong and Shellharbour areas. Staffed by experienced and highly trained staff, IHC is able to provide Consultative Cardiology services, cardiac ultrasound, holter monitoring, ECG recording and analysis and 24 hr blood pressure monitoring and reporting. Our principal Cardiologist Dr Divina Brillante PHD is an experienced Cardiologist with an interest in adult heart disease. Dr Brillante has previously completed a research PHD in Adult heart disease and is a lecturer for the Medical Faculty at Wollongong university.

Illawarra Heart Centre is looking for a holter fitting technician to join our team on a casual basis. Work is at both Wollongong and Shellharbour offices. Shifts are rostered Monday to Friday from 8:30am, most shifts are finished by 12 noon but additional hours may be offered to the right applicant.

Suits university students currently undertaking exercise science, medical science, or nursing degrees but open to all applicants.

Our Wollongong office has relocated to 1/81 Market St, a red brick building on the corner of Market and Regent Streets, as a temporary site while we secure our permanent location in the area.

Monitor fittings will continue to be provided on Mondays, echocardiograms on Tuesdays, and echocardiograms/stress echocardiograms and consultations on Fridays.

We are contacting patients with booked appointments to discuss options. Please be patient while we complete this task.

About the business and the role

About Us

Illawarra Heart Centre is a specialist medical practice with sites in Shellharbour and Wollongong. We are a growing practice with a motivated and dedicated team of Cardiologists, Cardiac Technicians and support staff who aim to provide high quality Cardiology services to patients in the Illawarra area.

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and well organized person on a Part-Time basis to fill the role of Medical Secretary and receptionist. The successful applicant will be required for 3 days per week with the potential to increase in the future. Additional hours may be available in the event of sick leave and annual leave coverage. Days required are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. The successful applicant will be required to work at both Shellharbour and Wollongong offices.

Job tasks and responsibilities

- Reception desk duties including greeting patients, maintaining patient bookings and billing and receipting of patients through Genie medical software and EFTPOS facilities
- Phone duties including making and answering phone calls
- Clerical duties including scanning and filing, sending and receiving faxes, typing of letters and reports and mailing documents as requested.
- Banking duties as required.
- Assist with patient procedures, including ECG; Holter Monitor and Blood Pressure readings.

Skills and experience

Essential:
- Previous experience in secretarial and reception duties, preferably in a medical setting.
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- good computer knowledge and skills with the ability to learn and adapt to changes in software or equipment.
-ability to learn new skills quickly and accurately.
- well organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
- high level of written and verbal communication skills
- excellent attention to detail
- able to maintain a professional demeanor at all times when dealing with patients on the phone and in person
- Flexibility in regard to work hours and days.

Desirable
- Previous experience with Genie medical software
- Previous medical reception experience
- Knowledge of medical terms, in particular Cardiology
- Previous experience with Medicare and DVA claims, Eclipse billing and HPOS.
- Experience performing ECG, holter monitor and blood pressure monitor fittings, or the desire to learn.

Training Provided
The successful applicant will be provided with training in all required aspects of the role.

Your heart health is important! We will continue to provide all services to our patients during the lockdown. We have increased safety measures in place, such as reduced patient numbers in the waiting rooms and additional cleaning protocols.

We may request that your appointment is conducted via Telehealth rather than face to face. We can offer either telephone or video consults.

Please, as always, do not attend the clinic if you are unwell, even if you have had a negative COVID test. Also do not attend if you have been to a listed hotspot or are considered a close or casual contact of a positive case.

Our phones can be a little busier than normal at the moment, please be patient with us so we can look after everyone! If you would prefer for us to call you back, send us an email info@illawarraheartcentre.com.au and we will be happy to call you as soon as we are available.

Illawarra Heart Centre staff are excited to be getting started with our new QLABS cardiac imaging software from Philips. This will enable us to provide a greater depth and range of imaging as part of our cardiac Ultrasound services. Part of our plan to provide the greatest possible range and depth of cardiac imaging in the Illawarra region.
