YES! We do recommend acupuncture to support labor & birth prep.
We recommend starting at 35 weeks (or earlier if you’d like or you’re set for an induction at 38 weeks.
Treatment usually looks 1x per week to begin with and then 2-3 treatments close together when we really want bub to come. Usually we don’t need the 3rd tx but we book it just in case 🧚♀️
Things to do to help prepare for labor:
- protect your energy and those who come into your space.
- Focus on supporting your nervous system and things that help you feel safe such as snuggles with you boo or animal, sipping on raspberry leaf tea or our nourish me tea, foot baths, time outside in the sun, reading
- Medjool Dates are shown to help soften the cervix and help labor. Aim for about 6 a day from about 35 weeks. Get creative, add them to room temp smoothies, make date balls or eat with a scoop of peanut butter.
- Certain Chinese Herbs prescribe by a Chinese Herbalist can support your body in all the right ways
- and of course let’s not underestimate Acupuncture.
Other things to remember:
- it’s important you’re well rested. Labor and birth take a lot of energy. Nourish yourself with good foods, acupuncture, prescribed herbs, and plenty of rest.
- feel free to turn your phone on do not disturb or off completely. The due date is hardly correct, it might be easier to change your birthing date to 42 weeks in your own mind so you don’t feel under pressure.
- No one can force or ask you to do anything you don’t want to do. Say no if it doesn’t feel right.
And remember, your body grew this baby without your effort and your body can birth this baby too! Trust ✨
(If you’re feeling a bit emotional or unsure about birth (at any time during pregnancy), we recommend acupuncture for this too!)
