Resource of the month: Finger Twister 🖐️

Finger twister is a mini version of the classic twister game but instead of feet and hands, it’s all about your fingers!

This fun, fast paced game supports:
🖐️ Fine motor dexterity, specifically finger isolation
🧠 Motor planning and coordination
👀 Visual scanning and attention
🗣️ Following directions and turn taking

At Evolve, we love using finger twister to work on these skills whilst keeping kids engaged and motivated!

Did you know that something as simple as weighted cutlery can make a big difference for kids and adults with sensory or motor challenges?

✏️ Is your child experiencing handwriting challenges and or potential motor dysgraphia? ✏️

Are they entering year 10-12? Our occupational therapists complete SCSA-aligned assessments to identify your child’s functional handwriting needs and support applications for special exam provisions such as ergonomic supports, modified paper,  extra time and rest breaks.

We work with families and schools to ensure students have the tools they need to demonstrate their true learning in exams.

🧠 Need a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?

An FCA is a detailed assessment completed by an Occupational Therapist to understand how you (or your child) manage everyday activities such as self-care, mobility, communication and participation within the home or community.

This might include looking at how you make a cup of tea, navigate stairs or complete tasks such as vacuuming or dressing.

The assessment helps to identify strengths, challenges and the supports you need to reach your goals.

FCA’s are often used to support:
✅ Support new NDIS access applications
✅ Provide evidence for plan reviews
✅ Provide evidence for the need for continued or increased supports

With the holiday season approaching, now is the perfect time to book your FCA, before things get busy and ahead of upcoming NDIS plan reviews in the new year.

Tayla is one of our incredible paediatric occupational therapists, with a strong passion for supporting children with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions.

🧠 Her special interest areas are:
-Upper limb development
-Bimanual integration to support hand function
-Building early play and engagement skills

Tayla uses evidence-based, child-centred approaches to help children build confidence, independence, and meaningful everyday skills — all through play!
