What to do after pregnancy loss
Losing a baby at any stage of pregnancy, whether you planned or an unexpected surprise, affects everyone in unique ways. The grief that follows is real and it's important to honour YOUR experience, no matter how it might differ from expectations.
If you’re planning to try to conceive again, here’s what our Naturopath Randa recommends after pregnancy loss:
First, grieve in whatever way feels right for you. Every loss matters, and every feeling is valid. Let yourself feel, don’t rush to “move on.”
Pathology tests can be done from around 7–10 days post-loss to check hormone levels, inflammation markers, and underlying contributors.
Consider checking egg quality. It may reveal insights into fertility and guide next steps.
Nourish yourself with wholefoods, rest, and restorative herbs to rebuild strength.
Prioritize sleep (it helps you recover physically, emotionally and mentally).
Try to stick to regular routines, not too much rushing around, and keep stress levels low, your body needs safety to ovulate and conceive.
Do things just for pleasure, not productivity. Read, paint, garden, journal, watch a comedy. Just let your nervous system settle.
Begin to rebuild trust in your body. Hypnotherapy can help with this - shifting any subconscious fears or doubts that may linger.
This time is about restoring, not rushing. When you’re ready, we’re here to support your next steps, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
