SHMRC is an annual research symposium showcasing research from health & medical students in WA

The Students in Health and Medical Research Conference (SHMRC) is an annual research symposium showcasing research from health and medical students in Western Australia. The conference provides student researchers with the opportunity to showcase their work, network with fellow health & medical peers and gain further insights & knowledge from leaders in the field. SHMRC aims to:

- Provide a platform for the presentation and discussion of health and medical research done by UWA students

- Bring exposure to the valuable contributions of student in the field of medical research

- Facilitate prospective students onto existing projects offered by research institutions

- Develop a strong, collaborative research culture among health and medical students of WA.

- Provide students with the chance to attend a research conference and gain experience before moving onto state and national conferences

📢 SHMRC Subcommittee Applications Open

Now in its twentieth year, the Students in Health and Medical Research Conference (SHMRC) is a vital forum for health and medical students to present their research to peers, clinicians, and researchers.

Proudly supported by Professor Fiona Wood as patron, SHMRC 2026 will be held on 20 October.

• Sponsorship Officer
• Event Officer

Applications may be submitted individually or as pairs.

This is a great opportunity to help shape one of the medical school’s largest academic events.
