📢We will be closing for the holiday period at 1:00pm on Wednesday 24 December, and reopening on Tuesday 6 January.

☎️If you would like to book an appointment for the new year or have any queries, please give us a call today or tomorrow, or email us at hello@gvwellbeing.com.au.

🌟As we round out the year, I would like to extend a massive thank you to our team, our clients, and our wider community.🌟

✨️In 2025, we were fortunate to welcome Chloe as our Admin Manager. Chloe has been an incredible support to our clinicians and has also assisted with running our LEGO group. She is a warm and reassuring first point of contact for our clients — something I believe is the most important part of the role. Behind the scenes, Chloe manages our many (and never-ending!) to-do lists and keeps everything running smoothly, allowing us to provide reliable and consistent care. Chloe has quickly become an important part of GV Wellbeing and I greatly appreciate all her work.

✨️A massive acknowledgement also goes to Peta, who gained her accreditation this year to enable her to offer Medicare rebates. Achieving this while also accommodating the many “small favours” I may have frequently asked of her throughout the year is no small feat. Peta’s calendar has been absolutely jam-packed throughout 2025, a testament to both her commitment to providing support, as well as how much she is valued by our clients.

🎉Looking ahead to 2026, we are grateful to welcome Alannah to the team. Alannah will be providing counselling services, with a particular focus on supporting children aged 6+ and young people. With her background in both counselling and education, she brings a thoughtful and informed approach to mental health care, and we are very much looking forward to working alongside her.

🙏The team would also like to extend our thanks to the medical clinics, agencies, and organisations we have collaborated with throughout the year, and who have trusted us with the care of their patients and clients. We believe that therapy is just a small part of the wellbeing journey, and we greatly value your collaboration and expertise. A special thank you to the agencies who have funded sessions for clients who may not otherwise have been able to access support.

💝Most importantly, a big thank you to all our clients and community members who have trusted us throughout 2025. We feel privileged to provide a safe and supportive space for your mental health care, and do not take the trust you place in us for granted.

🥳Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday period and a happy new year ahead. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

- Celeste 🫶

Thoughts on Today's Social Media Ban:

Today marks the first day of Australia's social media ban for under 16's. Whilst reducing social media consumption is absolutely a healthy option for all of us, and social media does come with risks, the blanket ban for young people unfortunately may fail to recognise the complexity of the issue.

The ban has not come with enough forethought into ways of supporting young people who might be socially isolated or disengaged from education and/or community, or who might struggle with face to face interactions. The Prime Minister suggesting that young people "make the most of the school holidays" by "spending quality time with friends face to face" fails to recognise that some young people do not readily have a strong face to face network.

We absolutely support putting devices down and having some screen free time, but hope that further measures are put in place to recognise the diversity of what social interaction and friendship can look like and to support this transition!

📢We are so excited to finally announce that Alannah will be joining our team from January 2026. Alannah has experience working in a range of school settings, not only in counselling roles but also as an educator. She holds a Bachelor of Education and Masters qualifications in Counselling. Whilst Alannah can work with all ages, she will be predominantly supporting children and young people from ages 6 and up. We look forward to sharing more about how Alannah may be able to support you, your child or your family as we move into 2026. For now, a huge welcome to Alannah - We are so lucky to have you on board! 🎈

Today is R U OK? Day. In our line of work we ask this question often. And no matter how rough things are, people's first instinct is often just to reply, "I'm OK"...even when they're not really feeling that way. So we ask again.

Sometimes its hard to say what's on your mind. It's a good reminder that when we ask the question, we need to keep asking. Check once, check twice and check again. Check in with the people around you.

If you need to talk to someone, just need to let someone know how you're feeling, or need a point in the right direction of who to talk to and where to start, you can email us today or any day at hello@gvwellbeing.com.au.

We say this all the time, but just a reminder that even if our service isn't the right fit for you, we are always happy to hear from you - and help point you in the right direction...because everyone deserves to be heard and to receive support, and everyone deserves to feel OK!

📢To all our wonderful community services workers, education workers and other colleagues supporting young people...
Did you know that Melbourne City Mission may be able to provide funding support for sessions with young people aged 16-25 to access therapy with us?
This can be to help young people return home, stay safe at home, or to help them recover from trauma or family conflict. Melbourne City Mission are super generous with the level of support they provide and we are fortunate to work with many clients who have accessed this support.
Reach out to us if you think this might benefit a young person you are working with or are curious about whether they might meet the criteria - 📧hello@gvwellbeing.com.au
