There is an ongoing risk of measles linked to overseas and interstate travel, including transmission occurring from exposures on inbound international flights and airport settings.

The public exposure sites web page will be updated on an ongoing basis as new sites are identified: https://go.vic.gov.au/4aGYlde

Anyone who has attended a listed public exposure site during the specified dates and times should monitor for symptoms for up to 18 days after the exposure and seek medical care if symptoms develop.

Anyone who develops symptoms should seek medical care and testing for measles. Call the health service beforehand to advise that you may have been exposed to measles and wear a face mask.

Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and others.

🫁 Lung Cancer Screening Has Arrived – And It Could Save Your Life

Lung cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages — which is why screening is so important.

The good news?
Eligible patients can now access FREE lung cancer screening every 2 years through the National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

👤 Who is it for?

You may be eligible if you:
• Are aged 50–70 years
• Are a current smoker OR quit within the last 10 years
• Have smoked the equivalent of 30 pack-years or more
• Have no symptoms

Not sure what “pack-years” means? Don’t worry — we calculate that for you.

💙 Let’s Talk About Stigma

Smoking is common, and many people have smoked at some stage in their life. This program is not about blame or judgement — it’s about early detection and better outcomes.

If you’ve smoked in the past or currently smoke, you deserve access to preventative healthcare without stigma.

🏥 What Does Screening Involve?

Screening is done via a Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan.

✔️ It’s quick (usually under 10 minutes)
✔️ Non-invasive
✔️ You don’t need injections or sedation
✔️ No hospital stay
✔️ It’s FREE for eligible patients

The scan uses a very low dose of radiation to look for early signs of lung cancer — often before symptoms appear.

🔁 How Does the Process Work?

1️⃣ Book an appointment with one of our doctors
2️⃣ We assess eligibility and calculate pack-years
3️⃣ If eligible, we provide a referral
4️⃣ You attend your scan
5️⃣ Results are reviewed and discussed with you
6️⃣ If eligible, screening is repeated every 2 years

🫁 Early detection saves lives.

If you think you might be eligible, or you’d simply like to discuss whether this screening is right for you, please contact Wellness Medical Clinic to arrange an appointment.

📞 Call us or book online via HotDoc.
We are always accepting new patients.

Your health matters — and we’re here to support you. 💙

☀️ Friendly Reminder: Skin Checks Save Lives ☀️
Skin cancer doesn’t discriminate — any age, any skin type, any time.
And even if you’ve had a skin check before (or recently), new spots and changes can appear quickly.

Why should you have a skin check?
✔️ Early detection = simple treatment
✔️ Melanoma can grow fast and be life-threatening
✔️ Most skin cancers are highly treatable when caught early
✔️ Peace of mind matters

Who should have one?
👉 Everyone.
Young or old, fair or dark skin, first check or tenth check — if you have skin, it’s worth checking.

Good news!
✨ Skin checks at our clinic are completely BULK BILLED ✨

If a suspicious spot is found:
🔹 We can perform biopsies and lesion removals in the clinic
🔹 These procedures do incur a private fee, which will always be discussed with you first

Your skin is with you for life — looking after it now could save it later 💛

📞 Book your bulk-billed skin check via HotDoc or contact the clinic today.

☀️💧 With extreme heat continuing, our drinking water supply systems remain under increased pressure.

Thank you to customers in Longwood and Longwood East, Euroa and Violet Town for their efforts to conserve water. While demand remains high, we’re asking these towns to please continue conserving water where possible.

Gardens can be watered in line with the Permanent Water Saving Rules, but we ask that you pause and consider if it’s essential before turning on the tap.

Across the wider region, we encourage everyone to be mindful of their water use during this heatwave.

You can help by:
🚿 Keeping showers short
👕 Running washing machines and dishwashers outside peak times
🌱Avoiding watering lawns and gardens between 6pm and 10pm (peak)
🏠 Limiting non-essential water use until temperatures cool

Impetigo, also known as school sores, is a common bacterial skin infection that causes sores which often start as blisters, then pop, weep and form crusts.

Unfortunately, the chances of them infiltrating your home are more likely than not, especially with going back to school.

School sores spread easily through skin-to-skin contact (hard to avoid with kids), especially when bacteria enter through broken or irritated skin - like scratches, bites, eczema or after illnesses such as chickenpox. They’re also very itchy, and scratching makes it easy for the infection to spread to others.

What’s important to know:
Children with impetigo must be kept home from school or childcare until treatment has started. Good hand washing and personal hygiene also help prevent spread.

Where to get help:
If you think your child has impetigo, your community pharmacist is a good place to start. They can assess the sores and give advice on next steps.

Chemist Care Now allows Victorians to receive some treatments at a local chemist, just like school sores, without needing to see a doctor to get a prescription first.

Give your chemist a call before you go to check what treatments are available for school sores, or if you need to book ahead.

For less complicated cases, treatment is now available at participating chemists through Chemist Care Now.

If the infection is more severe, or not suitable for treatment at the chemist, the pharmacist will refer you to a GP for care.
