I get this question a lot especially when I’m sharing the recipes I am making so here’s the simple answer.
AIP stands for Autoimmune Protocol, and it’s a healing, anti-inflammatory diet designed to calm the immune system, repair the gut, and reduce symptoms of autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s (which I’m personally navigating through).
Think of it like a powerful reset for your body.
For a period of time, you remove foods that may be triggering inflammation like gluten, grains, dairy, soy, refined sugar, seed oils, nightshades, nuts, eggs, and processed foods. I know… it sounds like a lot. But it’s not forever.
This isn’t just about what you remove it’s also about what you add in: nourishing, nutrient dense foods like veggies, high quality meats, wild caught fish, gut healing bone broth, healthy fats, and lots of herbs.
Over time, you slowly reintroduce foods back in (if your body tolerates them), while continuing to listen to what your body needs.
The goal?
- Reduce inflammation
- Support the gut
- Calm the immune system
- Help your body heal from the inside out
It’s not a quick fix. It’s a lifestyle shift grounded in self-awareness, healing, and real food.
It’s one of the most powerful things I’ve ever done for my body and I’m still learning, evolving, and figuring it out as I go. My body is loving it and I can tell because my metabolism is finally starting to work again. The foods I’m eating are giving me the energy I need and deserve, my skin is the best that it’s ever been and I feel like a new person because my mental health has been great too. I have learnt over the years if you gut it happy and healthy then the rest of your body especially your mental wellness is happy.
Let me know if you want me to share more about how I make it work in real life meals, tips, mindset, and more. This is what I love to share and I hope it inspires just one person out there.
