Urgent care is when you have an illness or injury that needs medical attention on the same day. It’s when you can’t wait for a GP appointment but you don’t need to visit the emergency department.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics provide free, walk-in care – no referral or appointment needed.

Urgent medical care may include attending to minor fractures, sprains; minor infections; mild burns; respiratory illness; severe stomach pains; or urinary tract infections.

Shepparton's Urgent Care Clinic is located at Shepparton Medical Centre on Graham Street. For more information, visit https://shepmed.mthc.com.au/mucc/

Today on Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice and service of all who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, especially those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

At 11am, we will observe one minute of silence to reflect on their legacy and express our gratitude.

Lest we forget 🌹

GV Health’s Emergency Department is currently experiencing high demand, resulting in lengthy wait times for patients with non-urgent matters.

We ask that community members only come to the Emergency Department for conditions that are urgent or life-threatening.

The Priority Primary Care Centre (PPCC) in Shepparton provides urgent care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. The PPCC is located at 49 Graham Street. For more information, including operating hours visit http://shepmed.mthc.com.au/ppcc/

The Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) is another alternative service that lets you access care for non-life-threatening emergencies. You can connect to the VVED from anywhere in Victoria. Visit https://www.vved.org.au/patients/

For information on other services available, please see our Alternative Health Services guide at: http://bit.ly/45yKao7

Through another demanding winter, GV Health’s ED has continued to experience high patient numbers, but improvements in patient flow are helping ease the pressure.

One key success has been the upgraded Transit Lounge, which opened in June with support from the Timely Emergency Care Collaborative.

The space provides a comfortable area for patients ready for discharge while waiting for paperwork, medication or transport, freeing up hospital beds earlier in the day and helping patients get home sooner.

Patient flow improves with new emergency care standards.
