🌸 Breathe, move, reset

Spring is the season of fresh starts—and your breath can be one of the simplest tools to reset your body and mind 🌿💨

From an osteopathic perspective, good rib mobility and deep breathing do more than just calm the nervous system:
✨ They support healthy posture by opening the chest and reducing tension in the upper back
✨ They help circulate oxygen and nutrients through the body, aiding recovery
✨ They keep the ribs, spine, and diaphragm moving well together
✨ They lower stress and create space for more mindful movement

💡 Try this: pause for a few minutes today, place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly, and take 5 slow, deep breaths. Notice how your ribcage expands and releases.

It’s a simple way to reset your body—and a perfect practice to carry into spring movement.

👉 Do you notice a difference in how your body feels when you focus on your breath?

🌼 Reawakening your spine after winter

If your back feels a little “stuck” after the winter slowdown—you’re not alone! 🌙➡️🌞

Your spine loves gentle, regular movement. After months of sitting more or moving less, it’s normal to feel stiff.

Here are a few simple ways to reawaken your spine this spring:
✨ Try gentle spinal twists to release tension
✨ Add in cat–cow stretches for flexibility
✨ Take standing breaks if you’re at a desk
✨ Go for regular walks to keep joints mobile

Osteopathy can also help by improving spinal mobility, reducing stiffness, and supporting healthy alignment—so you can get moving with more ease and less discomfort.

👉 Have you noticed your back feeling different after winter?

🪑 Spring clean your posture

We spring clean our homes… but when was the last time you gave your posture a little reset? 🌸

As the days warm up, many of us get back into gardening, walking, or outdoor projects—which can mean more bending, lifting, and carrying.

A few posture tips from an osteopathic view:
✨ Keep your spine tall and shoulders relaxed (no hunching forward!)
✨ When lifting, bend your knees—not your back
✨ Switch sides regularly if carrying bags or tools
✨ Take stretch breaks to avoid stiffness setting in

💡 Just like decluttering your space, small posture tweaks can make a huge difference to how your body feels this spring.

👉 What posture habit do you want to “spring clean” first?

🌳Outdoor movement for body + mind

Spring is the perfect time to take your movement outdoors 🌞🌸

From an osteopathic perspective, walking, stretching, or gentle exercise outside isn’t just good for your body—it also helps reset your nervous system.

✨ Movement in fresh air boosts circulation and energy
✨ Natural light supports vitamin D and bone health
✨ Walking on varied terrain challenges balance and coordination
✨ Outdoor time lowers stress and lifts mood

💡 Even a short walk in the park can help ease stiffness, clear your head, and support your spine and joints.

👉 Where’s your favourite spot to move outdoors in spring?

🌞 Spring into movement, not into injury

Caption:
It feels great to get back outdoors with the warmer weather—but after a winter slowdown, it’s easy to do too much, too soon.

Here’s how to safely get back into exercise this spring:
👟 Start gradually—build up intensity and duration over time
🧘‍♀️ Include mobility and stretching to keep your joints happy
💧 Stay hydrated and support your muscles with good nutrition
🌀 Listen to your body—aches and pains are signals, not something to push through

Osteopathy can support your body’s return to movement by easing muscle tension, improving mobility, and helping prevent injury.

💡 The key? Consistency over intensity. It’s better to do a little often than a lot all at once.

👉 What’s the first activity you’re excited to get back into this season?
