A November Prayer

As the year softens at its edges, this month calls us to slow down, loosen our grip, and meet ourselves with a little gentleness.. especially before that dreaded year-end rush 🙏🏻

A November Prayer is a quiet companion for the final weeks of the year - a little collection of reflections and small rituals to help you release what time alone hasn’t yet healed this year.

N – Nurture what needs rest.
O – Open yourself to what’s ready to be released.
V – Venture inward, even when it feels uncomfortable.
E – Embrace the endings that make way for beginnings.
M – Meet yourself with mercy, not demands.
B – Breathe before you react; let stillness speak first.
E – Ease into acceptance; not everything needs fixing.
R – Remember how far you’ve already come.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing each of these reflections - one at a time - with my email community.

If you’d like to receive them as quiet letters in your inbox (with deeper prompts and a small weekly ritual), you can join me below.

ANXIETY’S INVISIBLE TIES

“Don’t worry about it.”
“Stop worrying.”
“Let them think what they want.”
“Don’t listen to them.”

It all sounds like good advice, doesn’t it?

Unless you’re living with anxiety - then it just sounds dismissive.

If it were that easy to “stop worrying,” don’t you think people would?
Anxious people don’t enjoy worrying. In fact, they often hate it.

But when someone tells them not to worry, it can reinforce the belief that they must worry - because clearly you’re not. So the burden of keeping everyone safe quietly falls to them.

Your model of the world might be “Everything will work itself out.”
But theirs might be “The world is dangerous. I need to stay alert.”

This model was learned a long time ago and rests on beliefs like:
“If I don’t plan, things will go wrong.”
“If I don’t worry, I’ll miss something.”
“If I relax, people will get hurt.”

It’s a life lived in hyper-vigilance - and it’s exhausting.

So when you see someone with anxiety resting or withdrawing, they’re not being lazy. They’re trying to find peace inside a mind that won’t stop spinning. They might appear fiercely independent, but that independence often comes from not being able to trust anyone else to keep them safe.

I know this world well. I lived there for many years - until I learned that anxiety wasn’t my enemy. It was a messenger. A loyal protector that simply needed retraining.

Now, through my work as an Emotional Wellness Therapist and NLP practitioner, I help others do the same - to uncover what anxiety is really trying to say and begin transforming it into clarity, confidence, and calm.

If you’ve been carrying the weight of overthinking, I invite you to take the first step. Let’s have a free 15-minute chat to explore what your anxiety might be protecting you from - and how you can finally begin to release it.

Last night I dreamt I was walking the street where I grew up - barefoot, naked, lost. When I woke, relief washed over me.. thankful it never actually happened!

Carl Jung believed 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨 speaks to vulnerability.. the peeling back of protection - and 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙩 means the old map no longer fits.

Sometimes life strips us bare so we can finally meet the truth underneath.

I shared the full dream (and what it revealed) with my subscribers today - along with a few ways to start working with your own dreams as messages from the soul. If you’d like to be part of that list, you can subscribe for free here:

In 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩, we explore dreams like this as part of your own transformation - learning to interpret the symbols and stories that rise from your unconscious as guides for your journey forward.

If that speaks to you, I’d love to welcome you into The Quest.

There’s a moment in the room that I will never stop being in awe of. I can feel it in my client before they even say a word - the shift, the softening, the sense that something has forever changed. The life they carried in with them is no longer the life they’re walking out with.

Those are the moments I live for. The moments of clarity, release, and possibility. The moments when I know a new chapter has begun. ✨

If you’re ready for your own shift, I’d love to walk alongside you.

Let’s talk. 💬

So often when we are injured through words or actions of others, we spend precious energy focusing on the other person.

“I can’t believe they did that to me!”

“Why would they say something so hurtful?”

The more helpful questions are probably something like …

“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘮 𝙄 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸?”
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝙄 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸?”
“𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨?”
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸?”
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥/𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚?”

It’s never really the action someone takes against us that upsets us so much. It’s the meaning we give to it.

If someone forgets our birthday, it’s not the action of forgetting that hurts us. It’s the story we tell ourselves that “we don’t matter” ..”they don’t love me” .. that’s the part that evokes the reaction in us.

And it’s 𝗼𝘂𝗿 story. 𝗪𝗲 tell it.

Want some help in understanding your reaction and perhaps rewriting the story you are telling yourself? Let’s Chat 💭

On my walk last week, I heard Alan Watts share a limerick that made me stop in my tracks (no pun intended)

It went like this..

“There once was a man that said, ‘Damn!’
I am what I am what I am.
A creature that moves
In determinate grooves -
I’m not even a bus, I’m a tram.”

It’s lighthearted - but also cuttingly true.

So many of us live in grooves we didn’t consciously choose.
Patterns that formed early.
Responses we learned to repeat.
Tracks that feel like us, but really… they were just the surest way forward at the time.

When I work with clients, I don’t help them lay down a new track.
I help them see the one they’re on.
I help them understand why they keep falling into the same reactions, choices, and roles.
And then together, we gently untangle the need for those grooves to exist at all.

We rewire your thinking.
So that there’s no longer anything left to react to.

Sometimes that shift looks like:
– Being able to say “no” without guilt
– Asking for support without apologising
– Or finally speaking with honesty instead of swallowing your truth

If any of that feels familiar.. If you’re sensing it’s time to move differently -
Let’s talk 💬

"We all live in haunted houses and sleep in memory’s unmade bed."
- Dr. James Hollis

More and more I see the truth of this. Beneath our polished exteriors, we’re all just trying to live through the stories we've inherited.

Some call it the unconscious.
Others call it being human.

Either way, it was clear in a talk I gave to a small community group this week, that when we pause long enough to truly see each other, we realise just how alike we are.

This Sunday, I’ll be writing about memory, connection, and how therapy might just be the gentle art of making peace with our ghosts - and remaking our bed, one layer at a time.

A little snippet from my latest Sunday Thoughts…

I was listening to an interview with Dr. James Hollis when the host said:
“I hope I choose the right question.”

And Hollis replied:
“Well, what do you think will happen if you don’t?”

It hit me how often we call it indecision...
when really, it’s fear.

Not fear of getting it wrong...
but fear of moving forward.

Fear of facing the choice we already know is right.

If that resonates, I write little reflections like this every Sunday - thoughtful, real, and always free.

It’s all about you

After more than 20 years working with organisations in varied roles and industries - through booms and busts - I want to help businesses and leaders navigate their own professional journey. My industry experience includes mining, manufacturing, mining equipment, technology & services, agriculture and social & community services. I’ve worked in public, private and not-for-profit organisations. My roles have included Operational Management, Project Management, HR Management, WHS Management and C Suite roles as Chief People & Culture officer and CEO. I’ve managed diverse stages of business growth and decline from successful sales and mergers/acquisitions to voluntary administration and closures of divisions. All of these experiences have provided amazing opportunities to learn and grow and shaped the leader I have become today. I am passionate about supporting businesses & individuals to achieve their aspirations and personally motivated by increasing leadership and team capabilities.

Whilst my experiences have taught me that some of the greatest leaders do not hold a single qualification relevant to their role - I love learning and as a result, I hold a Bachelors Degree in Applied Management Studies, an Advanced Diploma in Business Management, and a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. I am also an accredited Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) Administrator as well as having studied and applied the Enneagram Personality Type tool. During my time leading a NFP Disability Service provider, I also obtained my accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider. As Director of Sincerus Business Group, I am conscious of living by what I coach and advise businesses to do. Sincerus is latin for genuine, truthful, candid, sincere. These words are core to ethical leadership and essential to healthy workplaces and successful organisations. Which is why they form the values at Sincerus Business Group and why you can expect these values to emanate in my dealings with you. I am grateful for the genuine and lasting relationships I’ve founded on my bespoke, yet practical, business approach. My authentic approach enables me to assimilate quickly into businesses and teams, ensuring early engagement with staff and maximum collaboration and engagement around client projects. Contact Sincerus Business Group today for an engaging discussion around your business, your vision and the power of collaboration.
