You’ll see… our story is about two brothers, sons of an optometrist, who have lived and breathed the business for more than 30 years, and desperately wanted to create something special. Dr Leo Hartley’s dream was to give his optometry patients the best in clinical care. H2 Vision Centres – the ultimate optometry experience. You’ll see Mark’s dream coming true even before you walk into the H2 Vision Centres first outlet at Sippy Downs – there is no front door, allowing the shop to spill out on to the courtyard where you can sip a coffee, read a mag, search on a complimentary tablet, or just watch the world go by. You can’t help but be attracted inside the showroom with its understated sophistication, a little like the Sunshine Coast itself. Three hundred-year old Indian balustrades anchored in antique timber showcase the original modern frames by funky designers like Fritz and Maui Jim. This is a place where there have been no compromises in the quest for perfection and that carries through to the lenses – only Nikon or Essilor are offered, guaranteeing quality, and one of the reasons why H2 Vision Centres has an unconditional 12 month warranty on all its spectacles. Beyond the showroom, you’ll see Leo’s dream coming true. The clinical area is outfitted with the latest technology to take the stress out of visiting the optometrist. Most basic eye tests take about 10 seconds – eliminating the need for the 15 minutes of confusing questions - “which is clearer, the first or second chart?”. The modern equipment also dramatically reduces the need for patients to have mydriatic or anaesthetic drops, or to be dilated, and provides more accurate testing for many serious conditions. Whether it’s the showroom or the clinic – there is one constant – to be the best, and that extends to the service, where Leo and Mark are supported by qualified staff Krystle and Nicky. We’re looking for a caring and enthusiastic Optical Dispenser & Patient Support team member to join our friendly optometry practice at Sippy Downs.

This role is ideal for someone with a nursing, healthcare, or patient-care background, or simply a genuine passion for helping people. While experience isn’t essential, you’ll need to bring a warm, positive attitude and a willingness to learn — we’ll provide full training.
Did we mention the ability to have FUN!
As part of our team, you’ll:
• Welcome and support patients throughout their visit
• Assist with frame selection, lens dispensing, and patient care
• Contribute to creating a professional yet friendly environment

This is a full-time position, so we’re looking for someone reliable who wants to grow with us long-term.

📍 How It All Began…

👓 A legacy of vision care - 83 years and counting.

📸 Photo circa 1966 – Can you spot Leo and Mark?!

In 1942, Leo Hartley Snr returned from WWII and began his journey as an optometrist in Townsville. Not long after, he moved to Mackay, started a family, and continued serving his community with care and dedication.

In 1980, Leo Jnr (optometrist) and Mark (mechanical optician) joined the family practice, keeping the Hartley tradition alive.

Years later, Leo Jnr pursued medicine in Townsville - but the story didn’t end there…

👥 In 2016, the brothers reunited to form H2 Vision Centres, combining decades of experience and a shared passion for eye care.

Today, with the expertise of Dr Tracy Hills and Dr Ana Boucas, H2 Vision proudly continues the legacy Leo Snr started over eight decades ago.
