From guidelines to practice: collective learning through clinical audit of the IFOMPT cervical framework - The International Federation of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physical Therapists Incorporated (IFOMPT) cervical framework provides evidence-based guidance for assessing patients with cervical pain to identify potential vascular pathologies. However, implementation of clinical frameworks by practitioners remains challenging.

Barriers and facilitators to the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures by Australian osteopaths - Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are increasingly being used to quantify and inform valued-based healthcare both globally and in Australia. However, use of these measures in specific allied health professions, notably osteopathy, is lacking.

Comment on “Immediate effects of three different upper trapezius trigger point techniques on pain intensity and pressure threshold in students with cervical pain: a randomized clinical trial” - We read with great interest the recent randomized clinical trial by Todri et al. in the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine [1]. This study provides a valuable contribution to the field of manual therapy through its rigorous, well-blinded design, comparing three established myofascial trigger point (MTrP) techniques – Chaitow, Lewit, and Jones – against a sham intervention. The inclusion of a sham treatment group is particularly commendable, as it helps control for non-specific treatment effects and enhances the study's internal validity.

Immediate Effects of Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy on Thoracoabdominal Mobility, Respiratory Muscle Strength and Pulmonary Function in Healthy Men: Preliminary Crossover Trial - Isolated high-velocity and low-amplitude techniques have been shown to be effective in improving joint mobility, supporting the gain of respiratory muscle strength and pulmonary function. However, it is not yet known if osteopathic manipulative therapy can improve these variables.

Association of neurovascular events with cervical manual therapy: A cohort study - Manual therapy is frequently used in the treatment of cervical-spine conditions. Due to the critical neurovascular structures in the cervical region, there are potential risks associated.

Breathing retraining and manual therapy for long COVID – A literature review - Long COVID continues to have health impacts globally. Dyspnoea, fatigue, exercise intolerance and musculoskeletal symptoms are common and have been linked to pathophysiological mechanisms such as dysfunctional breathing, dysautonomia and neurolymphatic dysfunction that might be assisted by breathing retraining and manual therapy.

The outcome of a short course of osteopathy for older adults with chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain. A single-arm, prospective feasibility study - With an ageing population and limited efficacy of analgesics, alternative strategies for managing chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain in older adults are required. Osteopathy is frequently used by people aged 65 and over and may offer a viable non-pharmacological approach.

Efficacy of Myofascial Unwinding and Myofascial Release on Somatic Symptoms in Patients with Non-specific Chronic Low Back Pain – A Study Protocol for a Single-Blinded Randomized Clinical Trial - We outline a protocol to determine the comparative efficacy of Myofascial Unwinding (MFU) and Myofascial Release (MFR) versus conventional physiotherapy on somatic symptoms, pain, and quality of life (QOL) in non-specific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP) patients.
