♻️ The Real Cost of Responsible Tyre Disposal
Recently, TyreNutz was billed $580 to have old tyres disposed of responsibly and in line with environmental best practice.
This isn’t a surcharge.
It’s not a profit line.
It’s the real cost of doing the right thing.
To cover this cost, we have no choice but to pass it on to customers. Responsible disposal isn’t free, and for businesses that choose to do the right thing, it comes with a very real financial impact.
What often surprises people is that there is currently no consistent national requirement or enforceable standard for tyre disposal in Australia. This lack of regulation is one of the key reasons we continue to see tyres dumped in streets, paddocks, and bushland. Illegal dumping is cheaper than responsible disposal, and without clear standards, the burden falls on businesses that choose to act ethically.
At TyreNutz, we won’t cut corners. We won’t dump tyres, and we won’t shift the environmental cost onto the community. We believe responsible disposal is part of running a legitimate, professional operation, even when it costs more.
But this is a broader issue that needs attention. Until there are clear, consistent standards and shared responsibility across the industry, environmentally responsible businesses will continue to carry the cost, while illegal dumping remains a problem for everyone.
If you’re ever wondering why a disposal fee appears on your invoice, this is why.
Because doing the right thing should be the standard, not the exception.
