LEMON BALM (Melissa officinalis) 🍃
Melissa comes from the Greek word for bee, and was traditionally planted around beehives to attract the bees, which I think is such a beautiful image.

It’s a lovely carminative herb, helping to soothe spasms in the digestive tract (think IBS-type symptoms), especially when digestion is tied to anxiety or stress. Lemon balm gently relaxes the nervous system and softens those tension-driven gut reactions.

There’s an old Arabian proverb that says:
“Balm makes the heart merry and joyful.”
Traditionally it was infused into wine and said to be “good against the biting of venomous beasts, comforts the heart, and driveth away melancholy and sadness.”
Honestly… sounds like the perfect herb for a broken heart.

While doing some traditional research, I also discovered its associations with Sagittarius, Aquarius and Cancer … which might explain why I’m so drawn to it, being a Sagittarius sun, Aquarius moon and Cancer rising 🥰

With its beautiful lemony aroma and flavour, lemon balm makes the most perfect herb for tea, or simply infused in iced water.

I’ve been unable to walk the last week due to a foot injury… and my body is craving a good bush walk.
Maybe I should just lay in a river instead.

Herbal tea can often be dismissed as ‘just tea’

Too simple
Too easy
Not strong enough to make a difference

But there is something powerful about steeping plants in water and then allowing them to move gently around the body.

And it’s not just about the plants… the ritual of taking the time for yourself to make a cuppa. As well and the addition of the warm water, nourishes and calms from the inside out.

What originally drew me to study naturopathy was that it combined my love of understanding the mystery of the human body… food, science, and a touch of magic ✨

I also deeply value connection. Creating a space where people feel safe, heard and supported. I hope I can help bridge the gap between illness and wellbeing.

So what actually is naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health that recognises the body’s innate ability to heal when given the right environment and support.

As naturopaths, we draw on western herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, and personalised food and lifestyle guidance. It’s a practice that blends traditional wisdom with modern evidence, always looking at the whole person, not just the symptoms.

Let me reintroduce myself…. Hi I’m Bridgit ✨

I’m a Naturopath, Reiki practitioner and Astrology lover, based in Somerville on the Mornington Peninsula.

My work is rooted in the belief that our bodies are always communicating with us, we just have to make sure we slow down enough to listen.

I work 1:1 with clients in clinic (in person and online), supporting you with everything from hormones and gut health to nervous system regulation. I also really find joy in holding space for others in group moon circles. There’s something so powerful about like minded people gathering, reflecting and reconnecting together.

I love weaving together nutrition, herbal medicine and a sprinkle of woo woo.

More than anything, I care about creating a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported.
