Run Coaching Spotlight:

Wishing this guy the best of luck this weekend as he runs the 50km. Barry and I have been working together for approximately 6 months in the clinic at ISR, and 4 months through run coaching, and he has put in an unbelievable amount of work building himself up to the fittest and strongest he’s ever been.

Barry completed 3 marathons in 2025 without much structure or plan, and was already a seriously capable runner before we begun coaching. Since then we have adapted his strength training in the gym to be more running focused, and built his weekly K’s in a manner that was appropriate for his body, avoiding any injuries over our entire block due to our deload week placements and prehab in the gym.

Barry has his sights set on a greater goal, a 100km trail in May, however this weekend will be a great chance to reflect on all his progress and enjoy the privilege it is to get out there and race.

You’ve been a joy mate, go get the job done this weekend and we will march forward.

Pathologies I treated in the clinic this week! 👇
• Supraspinatus grade 2 strain
• Tibialis Posterior Tendinopathy
• ITB Syndrome
• Medial Meniscus tear
• Frozen Shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
• Chronic Migraines
• Wry Neck
• L2-L3 Radiculopathy
• Gastrocnemius Grade 2 Strain
• Rib Dysfunction (post subluxation)
• + many, many, many cases of weak muscles/stabilisers leading to pain.

In almost every case above, we aimed to pinpoint a weakness in which to load with movement, and solve which muscle groups are overactive for treatment! All whilst educating the person in front of me on what they can do themselves to get better.

These injuries always sound very scary and debilitating when written on a piece of paper and handed to you by your GP. At ISR we address the movement deficiencies, make adaptations to your load, and focus on what you can do to overcome your pain. Don’t be a victim of your diagnosis!

Hands on treatment at ISR, always 👋

Run Coaching Spotlight;

Hard to put into words how proud I am of this guy and all he has achieved over the last 4 months. Michael came to me with the goal of running the 102km , a massive goal coming off multiple marathons in 2025 but one that was so exciting! Never has someone been so diligent in sticking to the process, asking all the right questions and making sure he ticked every box necessary.

As we all know life throws curveballs at us, and Mike was thrown a big one 5 weeks ago losing a close friend, which meant training took a back seat. We were unable to complete much of our peak weeks, and we spent majority of the time period focusing on feeling healthy and spending time moving with mates. Mike was so strong through this whole period and everyone within our community applauds him on how well he carried himself.

He got to honour his lost friend over the weekend with this run, achieving 43km before pulling the pin due to extreme weather ☔️ and gut issues, yet he was able to meet so many amazing people and take many wins away from the experience.

Amongst training for this 100km, Mike achieved multiple PB’s across 10km distances and 5km distances, two styles of running we didn’t technically even prioritise, yet his volume of work meant his overall fitness became so so strong. Whilst this 100km wasn’t the race he had planned, Mike is the fittest and fastest he has ever been, and I cannot wait to see where he wants to take his running next, as anything is possible. Congrats legend 💝💝💝

Run Coaching Spotlight; !!

Big congrats to this wonderful person for running Carmen’s Half-Marathon over the weekend and achieving an 8 minute PB, running a 2hr 12!!

Zali is an accomplished runner already knocking off multiple events and marathons in recent years, however came to me with the goal of getting quicker across long distance. We’ve been working together for around 12 weeks so far and we have the big goal of finishing a marathon () under the course limit of 5hrs! She is well on truly on track for that after knocking off this Half-Marathon in hot conditions, 8 minutes quicker than her previous best. This was a stepping stone towards our bigger goal, but certainly not something to disregard as we work towards Ballarat.

We have done this through deliberate controlled slow runs to improve her base, weekly threshold work to improve her capacity, and specific incremental weekly K’s to avoid overtraining. She is doing all the right things to make Ballarat her best run ever, and more importantly she is enjoying each day and being so so easy to coach. Proud of you mate! Let’s keep it rolling.

Running is such a fun sport for so many reasons, but just like a lot of strength training, it is often done without much thought or process to follow which is hindering your ability to progress (or leading to injury as I see in clinic).

I’ve been writing up programs for patients of mine in the clinic, and also extending it out to the general public to continue helping more people tick their running goals.

These programs are all completely personalised to you, your paces, your heart rate zones, your level of experience, and your availability within the gym or out running.

Need a plan to follow? I’d love to help! Shoot me a message or click the link in the bio for my free running inquiry form. 🙌😄

Busiest I’ve been the last week at ISR. The process in 2026 hasn’t changed. When new people book into the clinic I ensure I do the following;
- Understand their goals and why they’re here
- Assess to understand objectively what may be causing issues
- Treat thoroughly and with intent
- Provide a plan of attack, a referral, an exercise program, or even just at-home advice

I’m remaining at Impact across long hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday’s. Booking link in the bio but be quick as appointments fill up.
