On Monday 17 November – World Prematurity Day, Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton will celebrate the incredible journey of their tiniest patients and the dedicated midwives who cared for them. 💜

Join them for a special morning tea in the Tamarind Room (Kenmore Building) at 9am on Monday, where mums and their little ones who spent time in the hospital’s Special Care Nursery can reconnect with the amazing Mater People who were there with them from the very beginning.

They’d love to see how much your little miracles have grown!

When little Macy met her newborn brother Jasper, it was love at first sight. 😍

Macy was born at 32 weeks' gestation at Mater Mothers' Hospital in March 2024.

She spent five weeks in Mater's Neonatal Critical Care Unit and Special Care Nursery, where she received care from Dr Joy Domingo-Bates.

Jasper was born in June 2025, and was delivered by Dr Melissa Luckensmeyer, who also delivered his big sister.

Maternity is coming to Springfield 💕

Antenatal clinics will commence at Mater Health Hub, Springfield from December and will start to transition over to Mater Hospital Springfield in late April 2026.

Mothers who attend these clinics will be the first mothers to birth at Mater Mothers’ Springfield!

How adorable are these marsupial Mater Miracles? 😍🦘

Mater Mothers' Midwife Rachel Bennetts started collecting donations from her fellow midwives after she heard about the work of environmental not-for-profit Wildcare.

Wildcare President Karen Scott said volunteers now use medical supplies donated by Mater to rescue orphaned joeys from their mothers' pouches.

“Single use products in hospitals might not be able to be reused for human needs, but they can certainly be used for animal needs,” she said.

We are so proud of the birth suites team for providing compassionate care to patients — both human and marsupial (and monotreme!) 😊

Little Isla was born at Mater Mothers' Private Brisbane on 23 October to parents Kirstie and Andy, and big brother Harvey. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

After spending three nights in hospital, Isla's family enjoyed a stay at Emporium Hotel as part Mater's Caring Continues program. 💕

Kristie shared a 'massive thank you' to her doctors and midwives. 🥰

Happy 1st birthday to another beautiful Mater baby, Amity!

Amity's mum, Trish, was transferred to the Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine after being diagnosed with Polyhydramnios, a buildup of amniotic fluid in the uterus during pregnancy.

"Our experience with everyone at Mater was incredible and my husband Nathan and I felt so welcomed. They were incredibly understanding and very kind."
