We were honoured to welcome Japanese primary healthcare nurses to Medical One Waurn Ponds as part of a professional exchange visit in collaboration with Western Victoria Primary Health Network and APNA - Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association 👏

It was a fantastic opportunity to share insights into Australia’s primary healthcare system, discuss the evolving role of practice nurses, and learn from our international colleagues about primary care in Japan.

Exchanges like this strengthen global healthcare connections and reinforce our shared commitment to delivering quality, patient-centred care.

Meet Guada, one of our practice nurses at Moonee Ponds!

Guada has been a part of the team for 3 months and is an outstanding nurse, bringing a wealth knowledge.

She has recently completed her cannulation training to be able to complete Iron Infusions at the centre. Guada works alongside our other two nurses, Anisha and Fatima 👏

We are lucky to have such knowledgeable and experienced nurses at Moonee Ponds, that deliver exceptional care to all our patients ❤️

Meet Sarah, our practice nurse at Waurn Ponds 👋

Sarah has worked in a variety of roles in the nursing field, completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Nursing, and have found her place in General Practice.

She has 6+ years' experience in practice nursing and really enjoys being able to help people at all different stages of their life. From childhood immunisations to over 75 health assessments, Sarah cherishes being able to build rapport with patients and provide support as they grow and change over the years ❤️

When she's not working, you can find Sarah walking her British Bulldog, Watson, on the beach or outside gardening 🐕🍃

Her favourite quote to describe being a nurse is “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said; people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” - Maya Angelou.

With over 15 years of medical experience across Sri Lanka and Australia, Dr Ama brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to general practice.

Dr Ama has special interests in:
• Mental Health
• Family Medicine
• General Medicine
• Paediatrics

She is committed to providing holistic, evidence-based care in a supportive and non-judgemental environment, and warmly welcomes patients from all backgrounds, including the LGBTQIA+ community.
