Here are some tips to help you ask for support for your health conditions and disabilities this year:
• Even if you feel others have it worse, your challenges still matter, and you still deserve support.
• Be specific when letting others know how they can support you to reduce any assumptions and misunderstandings.
• It’s okay to accept help, don’t push through alone when support is available.
• It can feel awkward or uncomfortable to ask for support, but doing so reduces risks and helps you thrive.
• Communicate in a way that works best for you, and don't underestimate yourself.
• Use written or visual aids to ask for support. It helps add credibility and helps others understand you better.
• Believe in yourself. You know what helps you, and it’s okay to let others know what support you need.

❤️❤️❤️

This holiday season, remember, you and your needs matter- Ask for support when you need it.❤️

The holiday season can be full of joy, but it can also bring unique challenges. Increased socialising, expectations, travel, crowds, noises and seasonal activities can impact access needs, routines, energy levels, and wellbeing.

However you choose to ask for support and advocate, communicate what you need, when you need it. 🧡

❤️ Today, on International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), we acknowledge and recognise the achievements, contributions, and rights of people with disabilities across the world.

This day is to highlight the inclusion and rights of people with disabilities across all areas of life and to raise awareness of their contributions and achievements.

People who live with disabilities have value, have the right to be treated with dignity, have the right to safety, to access, to autonomy and to opportunities and supports that allow them to live their lives.

If you advocate, stand up for disability rights and work to make the world better for people with disabilities- Thank You. Every bit you do matters, and you truly make a real difference.

People with disabilities face barriers and challenges every day, and the more awareness, understanding and conversations we have, the closer we get to a world that is informed, inclusive and supportive for everyone.💜🧡
