Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association

Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association Working to ensure radiology remains accessible, affordable and safe for all Australians.

The Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association represents private and not for profit radiology practices across Australia. Formed in 1999, ADIA works to ensure to diagnostic imaging remains accessible, affordable and safe for all Australians. For this to occur, private radiology practices - which currently deliver the majority of Medicare funded diagnostic imaging services cost-effectively - must operate in a sustainable, properly funded, quality focused health system. ADIA regularly consults with government ministers, senior departmental officials and a wide range of other organisations and individuals to help develop the most efficient and effective diagnostic imaging sector possible. Highly qualified and experienced medical specialists, radiologists use increasingly sophisticated imaging techniques to provide expert medical advice to patients and their referring doctors. Their work helps deliver better diagnosis and treatment for millions of Australians every year.

Ahead of the International Day of Radiology next weekend, we’re launching a campaign that shines a light on one of the most critical – and yet critically underfunded – areas of Medicare.

Breast imaging services such as mammograms and ultrasounds have barely seen rebate increases since 1998, which means breast cancer patients are paying more out of pocket.
