It’s early days but here is a theory teasing apart nuance to ADHD symptoms and seeking to distinguish between early (perhaps more ‘nature’ based) ADHD and a second type that is environmental (nurture-based) ADHD.
I am neuro-affirming as a clinician, and i think we are far off understanding neurodiversity of the human brain. (Please note this is only part of the conversation. ADHD symptoms can also look like and stem from early developmental trauma.)

“Type II ADHD: a cumulative effect of heavy, continuous digital stimulation. Very high amounts of screen use might also trigger similar problems earlier in life – preschoolers logging more than two hours a day showed a six-fold jump in clinically significant inattention compared with those watching less than half an hour per day.”

https://psyche.co/ideas/in-an-era-of-split-attention-there-is-more-than-one-type-of-adhd?fbclid=IwY2xjawND_HxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHkYDaJDdX2saR3J2HaokO1m1TrOuTRJgJEehVQqp3weo8O_FKVHR94IKqm7o_aem_7_ciQPF56RxAwYqYzSKSoA

ADHD is typically thought to be wired into the brain early. But many cases may be better seen as products of digital life

Today I’m training deeper in attachment theory and family systems theory. Relationships are my bag. The difficulties, the patterns, how one’s sense of Self is built (or not). Therefore how one experiences the world, assesses threat, responds to others, ‘handles’ others/uncertainty/anxiety. I find it endlessly fascinating. 💘 Right now I’m regenerating at lunch alongside a bunch of prostrated nurses also taking the sun and feeling the - always present - Earth beneath. 🌏 ☀️

A study has revealed that spending time in forests can significantly boost the immune system, potentially aiding in cancer prevention and treatment.

This phenomenon, often linked to the Japanese practice of "forest bathing" or shinrin-yoku, involves immersive exposure to natural environments, particularly forests.

The research highlights that inhaling phytoncides—natural compounds released by trees and plants—triggers an increase in natural killer (NK) cells, a type of white blood cell crucial for fighting cancer and infections.

These cells identify and destroy cancerous or infected cells, enhancing the body’s defense mechanisms.

The study suggests that forest environments lower stress hormones like cortisol, which can suppress immune function when elevated.

Reduced stress, combined with improved air quality and increased physical activity, creates a synergistic effect, amplifying immune response.

Participants in the study who spent time in forests showed elevated NK cell activity for up to a month after exposure, indicating a lasting impact.

Additionally, forest visits promote mental well-being, reducing anxiety and improving mood, which indirectly supports immune health.

While not a cure, regular forest exposure could complement cancer prevention strategies, emphasizing nature’s role in holistic health.
