21.03 💙💛 World Down Syndrome Day

This year’s theme is Together Against Loneliness.

Charmaine from our Tamworth office shares her story:

“For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside people with Down syndrome - but 13 years ago, my journey became personal when my son was born.

What I’ve learned is that while there is so much joy, strength, and connection in this community, there is still work to do. Misconceptions and outdated attitudes remain.

That’s why awareness matters.

I want people to see my son and assume competence. To recognise the incredible contributions people with Down syndrome make. Their lives are full of humour, intelligence, kindness, and love - and they enrich our communities in ways that truly matter.”

As part of the Celebrate T21 campaign, our Enlarge Living team rocked our funky socks to raise awareness and support.

Happy International Women’s Day 💚

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience and impact of women - in our community, in our workplaces and across the world.

We honour the trailblazers who challenged barriers and created pathways forward. And we recognise the everyday women - the carers, leaders, advocates, mothers, colleagues and friends, who show up with courage, compassion and determination every single day.

While progress has been made, the work isn’t finished. Many women - particularly women living with disability, continue to face barriers to safety, opportunity, leadership and equal representation. Real inclusion means creating spaces where every woman is heard, valued and empowered to shape her own future.

If you watched Myah’s story a few posts back, you’ll know this is just the beginning 🌱

Since then, Myah has continued to grow in confidence and independence, supported by Support Coordinator Destiny, Myah is working towards her goals. From settling into a home that feels right to completing her barista course and applying for work, her journey is unfolding in such a positive way.

We’re proud to support Myah navigate through her NDIS plan, as she builds skills, makes choices, and moves forward with confidence.

Today, 13 February, we pause to reflect and remember.

We honour the Stolen Generations - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, and the deep trauma and loss that followed.

This year marks 18 years since the National Apology delivered by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in 2008 - a step toward recognition, healing, and reconciliation. While the pain of the past continues to affect generations, today is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and culture of First Nations peoples.

Let’s continue to listen, learn, and support meaningful action toward justice and healing. 🖤💛❤️💙💚
