How NDIS Makes Accessibility Possible🌱
Accessibility means removing barriers so people living with a disability can live safely, be part of their community, and make real choices about their lives.
Many barriers aren’t about the person—they’re about the environment. Things like unsafe housing, communication systems that don’t work for everyone, or public spaces designed for only a narrow range of needs can all limit participation.
The NDIS can help reduce these barriers by funding supports that are reasonable and necessary, based on a participant’s individual needs, goals, and evidence.
🏡 At home – this might include modifications like rails, ramps, or bathroom changes to improve safety and independence. At Home support options like Supported Independent Living (SIL) or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) may be available for those who meet specific eligibility criteria.
🦽 Assistive Technology – equipment or tools that support mobility, communication, daily living, or sensory needs.
🤝 Personal supports – help with daily tasks or getting involved in the community in meaningful ways.
