✨ This is what AEIOU can achieve for children with autism ✨
During her time at AEIOU, Niamh made incredible progress—not just in her development but also in her happiness and confidence. She was content, supported, and truly cared for in a safe, accepting space designed for children like her.
For Niamh’s family, AEIOU offered so much more than childcare. It brought peace of mind. Knowing their child was safe and understood improved their mental health, reduced daily stress, and provided meaningful respite. It even made it possible to spend precious one-on-one time with siblings—moments that wouldn’t have been achievable otherwise.
With the guidance, therapy, and unwavering support from the AEIOU team, nothing ever felt like a burden. Every step forward was shared, supported, and celebrated.
Today, Niamh is ready for her next chapter at school—and much of that readiness is thanks to the care, expertise, and dedication of the AEIOU community.
💛 We are so grateful to be part of these journeys and to everyone who chooses to study, work, and give back to children with autism.

Meet Ayden 💙
A bright, curious, and joyful little boy who loves letters, music, and exploring the world around him.
Ayden has been part of the AEIOU family since January 2025, and his energy, curiosity, and sense of fun make every room he enters feel brighter.
Ayden receives enteral nutrition, meaning he gets the nutrients his body needs through a feeding tube to help him grow strong, healthy, and full of energy. Enteral feeding is one of the many ways children can be supported to get the nourishment they need — particularly when eating by mouth feels overwhelming, when medical conditions affect swallowing or digestion, or when extra support is needed to ensure they receive the right balance of vitamins and energy to thrive. And that support is completely okay.
Recently, our AEIOU Townsville team partnered with the Alliance Clinics Dietetics & Nutrition team to complete a refresher training in enteral feeding. The session focused on safe feeding practices, equipment use, and hands-on techniques to support children who receive nutrition via a feeding tube. This training helps ensure Ayden continues to receive consistent, positive, and individualised care, so he can fully access his early intervention supports and thrive in learning, play, and everyday moments.
While Feeding Tube Awareness Week has just passed, raising awareness doesn’t stop with the calendar. We’re proud to continue recognising the strength and resilience of children like Ayden and to highlight the important role feeding tubes play in supporting children to grow, learn, and live full lives.
We’re incredibly proud to announce our partnership with the Brisbane Broncos and the AEIOU Foundation as 1 of 12 Charity Partners selected for the Broncos’ 2026 Charity Partner Program 💙💛
As part of the program, players will work alongside each charity to help share their stories, with every partner recognised at a dedicated Broncos home game during the season. Recently, four players visited our Nathan Centre, and the children were thrilled to show them the fun play they were having that day. (Even big kids, aka centre staff, were joining in!)
The Broncos’ commitment to community impact is something we deeply admire.
We’re excited to stand alongside the Broncos, AEIOU Foundation, and the wider Broncos family in creating positive change where it matters most.
Thank you to the Brisbane Broncos for the opportunity to be involved in such a powerful community initiative. We can’t wait to share this journey with you in 2026.
Follow along as we share more throughout the 2026 season.

At AEIOU, every step is a milestone. Lenny can now count to 20, loves letters and numbers, and even has his own “comfort box” filled with all the things that help him feel safe.
Please, make a Christmas gift today to help more children like Lenny continue learning and thriving.
A BIG thank you to Renee Rennie, Principal of Ray White Banyo 💙
Each year, the incredible Ray White banyo team generously organise and donate gifts for our children to enjoy at our Christmas party—handed out by Santa himself 🎅
This beautiful tradition is part of their Little Ray of Hope initiative, and we’re so grateful for their ongoing support.

“With the NDIS changes, so many families have had to cut their days with us, and it’s going to have a huge impact on their children’s future.”
– Trudy, AEIOU Centre Manager
Every child deserves access to life-changing early intervention.
Help us keep their doors open and their futures bright🌟
At AEIOU, we provide a range of autism supports that help children with high support needs live their best lives.
Our educators and therapists are trained to help children with high support needs grow, learn and thrive, even when others have said, “We can’t meet your child’s needs.”
But right now, NDIS funding cuts are forcing families to reduce days or withdraw entirely.
We can’t let that happen.
💙 Your donation keeps children with autism learning safely, surrounded by care and understanding.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Rosemaria Flaherty as AEIOU Foundation’s new Chief Executive Officer, commencing Monday, 17 November 2025.
Following a comprehensive national search, Dr Flaherty was selected from a strong field of candidates to lead AEIOU into the future.
Dr Flaherty brings extensive leadership experience across the health, social services and child protection sectors, with deep expertise in government engagement, policy reform, and organisational transformation. She is also a registered Senior Psychologist with a PhD in Psychology, and postgraduate qualifications in business administration and counselling psychology.
AEIOU Foundation Chair, Mark Algie, said the Board is confident Dr Flaherty will lead AEIOU with vision and commitment as the sector continues to navigate changes to the NDIS.
“Rosa and the Board are aligned and deeply committed to AEIOU’s future vision and strategic direction. We are excited to welcome her as we continue building on AEIOU’s legacy of delivering high-quality, evidence-based services for children with autism and their families.”
Dr Flaherty said she is honoured to join AEIOU Foundation at such a pivotal time.
“My focus as incoming CEO is to ensure more children with autism, and their families, experience the life-changing outcomes AEIOU Foundation is known for. Together with our partners, we’ll continue to create a community where every child’s potential is nourished and celebrated.”
AEIOU Foundation also acknowledges the outstanding contribution of Alan Smith, who is retiring after more than 16 years of dedicated service. Under his leadership, AEIOU expanded its reach across Queensland, South Australia and the ACT, diversified its services, and strengthened its reputation as a leading provider of early intervention for children with autism.
We thank Alan for his remarkable leadership and welcome Dr Flaherty as she begins this exciting new chapter with AEIOU Foundation.

When Nikki’s little boy, Lenny, was diagnosed with autism at 18 months, she was desperate to find the right support.
Mainstream daycare wasn’t safe for him as he ran, climbed, and often had meltdowns because no one knew how to help.
At AEIOU, Lenny finally found a place where he belongs. A place where his needs are understood, and his potential is nurtured 💙
But with changes to NDIS funding, families like Nikki’s are facing impossible choices.
This Christmas, you can help close the gap and give a child like Lenny the care they deserve.
