Florence Thum - Psychotherapist "The moment your fear transfigures, you come into rhythm with your own self."

Take your first step towards growth and healing.

My integrative practice is client-centred, drawing on value- and strength-based approaches. As a certified trauma practitioner, my approach is to empower you to move from “what is going wrong” to “what can be”. I believe, as you are here, that you are ready to attend to the vital things in your life which bring you aliveness. I hold postgraduate degrees in psychotherapy, education and law, and have worked in different professional industries. I work with people from diverse gender, ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in areas of
• personal growth and development
• communication and conflict
• stress and anxiety
• interpersonal relationships
• education and schooling
• mid-life questioning
• existential or spiritual issues
• grief and loss. Together in a therapeutic or coaching space, our session is a safe space for awareness and to lean towards positive action. Take your first step toward change, now. I am here to support, facilitate and guide.

Lived experience changes us in ways knowledge alone never can.
Every mistake, every attempt, every stumble is a form of wisdom.
You know more than you give yourself credit for.

Stillness isn’t empty. It’s when life catches up with you.
In stillness, you hear what the year tried to teach.
You sense what is ready to bloom.

Discernment is noticing who nourishes you and who drains you. Some people are meant for a moment; others for a season; a rare few for the long road.
💕Who truly belongs in your inner circle?

It’s uncomfortable to realise how often we reject ideas, people, or possibilities simply because they unsettle us.
Curiosity softens that edge.
❓What if there’s more to learn here?
❓What if the unfamiliar is actually an invitation?

What happens when parents overhelp? A new meta-analysis of 44 studies (21,607 participants) reveals a clear pattern: Overparenting is linked to poorer mental health, especially higher depression and anxiety. The catch? These effects aren’t universal. -In Western cultures, overparenting tends to fu...

Wholeness isn’t about perfection. It’s remembering every version of yourself, and welcoming them all home.
💡What would you welcome of your past self?

Sometimes life asks us to unlearn everything we thought we knew about who we are.

I began writing in the quiet unravelling of a 20-year marriage to make sense of the transitional space I found myself, and as a way of finding my way back to myself. It has been a therapeutic journey of reclaiming the self.

What emerged became "First You Have to Say Goodbye" - a book of poetry and prose about loss, identity, and transformation.

It’s not a story of endings, but of becoming - of standing at a crossroad, wondering how to re-enter life when the old maps can no longer show the way.

I wrote it in the same spirit that guides my professional work - reflection as a pathway to self-awareness, healing, and (self) leadership grounded in humanity.

"First You Have to Say Goodbye" is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Links in Comments.

I hope it finds you, when you’re ready. It is my invitation for you to consider the possibility of different ways of being in the world.
