Women with a family history of breast cancer may be at an even higher risk. Some of them may consider the abbreviated MRI (where it's offered) as a screening tool, as the mammogram/ultrasound have limitations in assessing younger women.

Breast cancer numbers in young women are soaring, with more than 1,000 women aged 20 to 39 diagnosed with the deadly disease in Australia last year.
The increase in cases has prompted specialists to call on women as young as 20 to be 'breast aware', by doing self-checks and monitoring any lumps or changes in breast tissue closely.
