Advanced skills and expertise in women's and men's pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal care. Established for nearly 20 years, we are proud to offer very high quality, evidence-informed physiotherapy care to our community. We have expertise in pelvic health with four Masters-level pelvic floor physiotherapists. Our practice principal, Tory, is currently training to be one of only 15 specialist Women's, Men's and Pelvic Health Specialist physiotherapists in Australia. We love to help women of all ages feel and move better whether that is through pregnancy, the postnatal period, teenage girls or older ladies with hip pain or bone health issues. Similarly, we specialise in helping men with challenges such as incontinence or sexual difficulties, to improve their confidence and overall function. We don't exclude the men at Vital Core and we love to help the guys manage their low back stiffness or sore shoulder so they can get back to enjoying life. We have years of experience helping runners managing injuries, training programs and specific strengthening plans, exemplified by our flagship exercise class, RunFit. Middle aged runners have a suite of different needs to most runners talked about in online articles, and women have different needs to men. We understand this, and have been participating in education around athleticism for decades. Rebecca is now studying for her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at LaTrobe University to ensure we are completely up to date. Exercise is at the heart of Vital Core philosophy. We work with each and every patient to find an activity or movement that makes them feel and move better. Active management is the cornerstone of good quality physiotherapy and, while we use manual therapy to ease pain, we promote patient independence through exercise. We have a large, modern and well equipped gym and we run a range of exercise classes every week. We also have a Pilates studio for those people who prefer this style of exercise. So regardless of your issue, at Vital Core, we can help you feel and move better.

๐Ÿฆตโš ๏ธ Recurrent Ankle Sprains: Calf Raises! โš ๏ธ๐Ÿฆต

Calf raises are a great exercise after an ankle sprain for their functionality and to better realign the ankle. But, after a sprain, we often see ankles flick out a bit more - often because the ligaments designed to prevent this are injured.

So, if you're doing calf raises, make sure that your form is good, especially at the top. ๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿป

'Cryotherapy' (cryo- comes from the Greek 'kyros' meaning 'cold' - consider 'crystal', 'cryogenics', etc.) is the application of ice for treatment of injuries.

While protocols are away from this for certain injuries, it is strongly evidenced in the acute stage of ankle sprains for pain and swelling reduction.
Thomas: "I'm sure there are fancy ways to do this, but get your Greek on and just get a bag of frozen vegetables from the freezer."
However, its use is also very short term - it only works for the period or immediately after it has been applied.

It important to rehabilitate each and every ankle sprain. ๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿพ Ignoring these symptoms may lead to persistent ankle instability and recurrent injuries.
Physiotherapy is crucial for ankle sprain recovery. Physios assess the injury's severity, offer tailored rehabilitation plans, and guide short- and long-term management. The key is early intervention to prevent prolonged issues or re-injury!

๐Ÿ“ The Australian Physiotherapy Association Conference 2025 was held right here in Adelaide last week, and we were proud to be involved. The theme was "Lead the Physiotherapy evolution" That's what we did!

Physios Tory and Robyn were part of the organising and scientific committee for the Womenโ€™s, Menโ€™s & Pelvic Health stream, and Robyn also presented during the event (๐Ÿ“ธ Robyn on stage). Amazing work! Many of the team attended to soak up the knowledge from world experts.

A great start to the APA conference here in Adelaide.

Workshops on supporting pregnant women and assessing their readiness for pushing in labour led by our cery own Dr Robyn Brennan, an in depth pain workshop that generated much discussion and thinking and then onto the program proper from today.

Most of the team will be attending sessions, so our availability is a little limited at the end of this week, but itโ€™s all about building knowledge to help people better.

Welcome to Vital Core

Located at 433 Magill Rd, St Morris, Vital Core Physio has been helping the community move and feel better since 2004.

Whilst we love to help everyone or every life stage feel and move better we have a particular interest in helping women and girls enjoy an active life.

We are Adelaide's biggest private maternal health physio clinic. Vital Core Physio offer treatment, advice and exercise classes for pregnant and post natal women. We are also highly trained in Pelvic Floor physiotherapy.

We have a particular interest in the recreational runner, particularly women who are approaching or right in middle age, where the requirements of the body are so very different to any other stage or to men.
