Three major things affect the nervous system and your spine:
1) How we move, (have an adjustment-don’t put up with a problem even if it’s not painful- if it’s stopping you from moving well, you need a hand from me.)
2) How we think (keep positive and read something uplifting every day, being over-anxious causes stress on the nervous system & compromising the immune system)
3) How we eat. (Eat good quality food, lots of fruit, vegies and some fresh meat. Absorbing nutrients from food helps us heal and have a healthy nervous system & immune system. Remember when you were sick, healthy bone broths of chicken and beef were always good you.) Get some sunshine! Vitamin D is wonderful for the immune system, and after a cold, grey winter we tend to be low in this.
A healthy, well moving spine is great nutrition for the brain, it helps you think clearer, move better and sleep better. Looking forward to helping you.

Hamstring Injuries
It’s that time of the year again. It’s cold and you’re playing sport. You’ve warmed up and you’re running around playing netball court or football field and you feel that Oh so familiar twinge, in your hamstring. Or maybe the hamstring injury has already occurred and you’ve done the recovery exercises and something still isn’t right.
Often this is because the pelvis where the hamstring attaches to is out of alignment. It causes the muscles to shorten and increases the risk of injury or delay in recovery. This can also change the rest of the spinal movements as the body tries to compensate for the unusual movement of the pelvis.
When chiropractors are looking at your back, we’re looking at all of it seeing what’s working and what’s not. Chiropractic can help you move better and get more out of your game.

It’s Autumn and it’s time to clean up the garden after the Summer heat and plant all those new plants and cuttings for your Spring garden.
Some tips to help you stay fit in your garden:
1) Walk or do some gentle activity before hitting the dirt.
2) Stretch the lower back with some gentle side to side movements and rotating at the waist.
3) When bending remember to either bend the knees or bend over like the lady in the 2nd picture, keeping the spine straight
4) Drink some water and take frequent breaks to help stay mobile.

Dr. Wally Bowers has been an established chiropractor in Stawell for almost 50 yrs. Recently Dr. Pauline Walsh joined the practice as a chiropractor. Dr. Pauline has been a chiropractor for over 20 years and has run her own practice in Mooroolbark for 16yrs, with extensive experience in all types of chiropractic cases. She also has a Grad Dip. in Paediatric Chiropractic, is a certified Atlas/Orthogonal chiropractor and is passionate about chiropractic.

She has recently shifted to Halls Gap, where she and her husband Jurek, have purchased an accommodation business after travelling Australia for 2 years. She and her husband have 5 adult children between them. Dr. Pauline enjoys keeping fit, whether it be walking, running, swimming or going to the gym and relaxes painting (so you may see some of her artwork in the practice!)
