🌱 I by no means have a perfect diet, but I do aim to eat plants with almost every meal.
🌱 In order to support the diversity of our gut microbiome, provide adequate fibre to keep things regular and lots of colours to obtain a variety of nutrients for optimal health, it’s recommended to eat about 30 different types of plants per week.
🌱 That may seem like an outrageous goal, but when you drill down a bit, you’d be surprised how many plants you can actually consume.
🌱 They include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, herbs, spices, tea, freshly ground coffee, cacao (yes, 70% dark chocolate and above!)
🌱 Of course, they are referring to wholefoods, and not the heavily processed foods that barely resemble the plant they once were!
🌱 The photos below are a bit of what I’ve eaten over the past week - I did forget to take photos of quite a few meals and snacks, but it gives an idea how it can be done 😀
If you’ve got younger kids, it can be a bit of a game to play and see how many they can eat in a day/week too 🌱
