As I got out of bed this morning, I thought “maybe I should just stay in my PJ’s, it’s not like I’m going anywhere or seeing anyone today.

Which is true, I’m just recovering and not moving far from my couch to my bed, but each decision I’m making during this time is creating neural pathways for my future self.

So, yes, I could just stay in my PJ’s and not make my bed, but in 2, 4, 6 weeks time when I start to get more active and can do more each day, I don’t also want to have to get out of habits that aren’t beneficial to my future self.

Of course it’s ok to have a PJ and bed day every now and then, but I know my brain and I know myself - if a habit is easy and makes me feel good, then I’m going down that path.

Easy works for the current time, but it’s not going to help me get where I want to be in 12 months time - if I’m slightly challenged now, I can do things with ease in the future.

And there is a difference between “easy” and “with ease” 😊💪🏼✨

💕 Loving yourself is easy when life is smooth and all is going well.

💕 The real test of your unconditional self-love comes when you are in a growth process and are facing the latest shadow that has come forward for healing - this is where the magic really happens…when you can choose to go within, face those “ick” parts of yourself that you really want to turn away in shame from, but instead, you turn towards yourself - acknowledge the shadow, take the learning and step into the growth.

This beautiful client was kind enough to provide some wonderful feedback after she kindly offered her time to be a practice client to finish off my Breathwork training.
Breathwork is one of the most powerful modalities I have used and I love the shifts it has allowed me - and as you can see - has allowed others to make.
There’s so much new things happening next year, with Breathwork being a new addition to the Sage HHN toolkit.

🙅🏼‍♀️ I did not want to go for a swim today. I did not want to get out of bed. I just wanted to stay in bed, read my book and wallow in my hormonal pity party….

🥽 However, I knew if I didn’t force myself up out of bed, reluctantly pull my swimmers on, procrastinate my way all the way to the pool, that I would feel even worse for the rest of the day.

🦋 There are no rainbows and butterflies today. I’m hormonal, overwhelmed, anxious about my impending knee replacement and just in a crappy frame of mind.

And guess what, it happens. We all have these days where everything seems too much, we feel like we give too much…and yet the world keeps spinning 🌏

✨These are the times when we bring those firm boundaries right in. These are the times we fill our cups with all that replenishes us (even though out inner teen fights with every ounce to defy what is good for us). This is not the time for big decisions, or massive changes. This is our winter. Whether it lasts two days, or two weeks. Time to rest, and nurture ourselves ready for the spring that will eventually return - which it will. It always does 🌸

✨So, despite being adamant that I would only swim 300m - I swam 400m (8 laps). I still feel crappy, but I feel much less crappy than I would have had I stayed at that pity party and gave into my petulant inner teenager.

🌱 I by no means have a perfect diet, but I do aim to eat plants with almost every meal.

🌱 In order to support the diversity of our gut microbiome, provide adequate fibre to keep things regular and lots of colours to obtain a variety of nutrients for optimal health, it’s recommended to eat about 30 different types of plants per week.

🌱 That may seem like an outrageous goal, but when you drill down a bit, you’d be surprised how many plants you can actually consume.

🌱 They include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, herbs, spices, tea, freshly ground coffee, cacao (yes, 70% dark chocolate and above!)

🌱 Of course, they are referring to wholefoods, and not the heavily processed foods that barely resemble the plant they once were!

🌱 The photos below are a bit of what I’ve eaten over the past week - I did forget to take photos of quite a few meals and snacks, but it gives an idea how it can be done 😀

If you’ve got younger kids, it can be a bit of a game to play and see how many they can eat in a day/week too 🌱
