This November, as part of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, we’re focusing on raising awareness about the steps you can take to lower your risk of lung cancer.

While smoking remains the leading cause of lung cancer, there are several other proactive measures you can take to protect your health, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, and monitoring any respiratory symptoms. Early detection through screening is key to improving outcomes.

We are committed to supporting you in staying ahead of lung cancer with the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. If you're between 50-70 years old, have a history of smoking, and show no symptoms of lung cancer, you may be eligible for a free screening. Early detection through a low-dose CT scan can make all the difference in improving survival rates.

Book an appointment with your GP today to discuss your eligibility for the screening program.

Did you know that 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and men on average die 4 years earlier than women, with suicide being the leading cause of premature death?

Regular check-ups with your GP can help catch early signs of health issues, from prostate problems to mental wellbeing.

We encourage every man to take a moment this month to prioritise their health. Whether it’s a routine check-up, a discussion about mental health, or just a general health assessment, the GPs are here to help.

Visit your GP and start the conversation about your health today.

🦴 World Osteoporosis Day

This October 20th, we join the global call to action: “It’s Unacceptable!” Osteoporosis affects over 500 million people worldwide, yet up to 80% of those who experience a fragility fracture receive no follow-up care. This neglect leads to chronic pain, disability, and a diminished quality of life.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over 50 will suffer an osteoporotic fracture in their lifetime.

What You Can Do:
• Get Tested: Speak with your GP about bone density testing.
• Stay Active: Engage in weight-bearing exercises to strengthen bones.
• Eat Well: Ensure a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.
• Avoid Risks: Limit smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Your GP Can Help:
If you're at risk or have experienced a fracture, your GP can assess your bone health and discuss prevention strategies.

📞 Book an appointment today and take a proactive step toward stronger bones.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia, with 1 in 7 women expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. While some risk factors like age and family history can't be changed, many lifestyle choices can help reduce your risk.

What you can do:
• Limit alcohol consumption: Even small amounts can increase risk.
• Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight or obese, especially after menopause, increases risk.
• Stay active: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate activity most days.
• Breastfeed if possible: This can slightly lower risk.
• Don't smoke: Smoking is linked to increased risk, particularly in younger women.

Regular self-exams and being aware of any changes can help with early detection.

Screening saves lives! offers women over 40 a free mammogram every two years, and those aged 50–74 are actively invited to screen.

Your GP is here to help. Discuss any concerns or symptoms with your GP. They can guide you through risk assessment, screening options, and preventive strategies tailored to you.

Book an appointment with your GP today to discuss your breast health.

From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government introduced MyMedicare — a program to help patients receive more coordinated, ongoing care from their chosen GP clinic.
You don’t have to register for MyMedicare.

However, if you choose to register, it’s important to sign up with the clinic you want to manage your ongoing care plans. If you register with another clinic, we will not be able to provide your chronic disease care plans — even if you normally see us.
Patients registered with MyMedicare are eligible for:
• Longer telehealth GP consultations (Level C & D)
• Medicare-funded care for chronic and complex conditions
• Coordinated, personalised care from their chosen GP clinic

If you want to:
• Keep accessing longer telehealth appointments
• Have your regular GP manage your care plans
• Receive regular reviews and support for chronic conditions
➡ Then consider registering for MyMedicare — and choose our clinic when you do.

How to register:
Log in to MyGov > Medicare > MyMedicare > Register
• Or ask us at reception for a paper form
• We’re here to keep your care continuous and connected. Registering with us ensures we can continue providing the services you rely on.
