Today I held a private workshop for past Mentorship participants. A day of revisiting the Elemental Healing information, connecting with each other, sharing our journey and celebrating progress.

One of the subjects I wanted to discuss was our parasympathetic nervous system, our rest and digest system. This system when active is how we heal. Heal from injury, stress, trauma, loss, illness and difficult life situations. I discuss this EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. in clinic to 1:1 clients. No amount of therapy, good food, supplements can fully heal the body unless we access this system regularly. In the western world we are often sympathetic nervous system dominant, flight and fight dominant. Go, go, go, do, do, do! When people run from this paradigm they are unable to fully process, digest and integrate life experiences, emotions and food properly.

Some wonderful ways to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, rest and digest, is to firstly slow down. Gentle walks in nature, yoga, meditation, peaceful music, crafting, easy gardening and conscious breathing. Today we practiced a rhythmical breathing technique. This quickly switches the body to be in the parasympathetic nervous system. Rest, restore, digest and heal. This is basic biochemistry that has been inbuilt into our body since humans first roamed the earth. Working with our body, mind and spirit is the best way to live with ease, balance, joy and equilibrium.
